MISS VERNICE LEE HOWARD is the daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Alvah Clyde Howard of Greenville, who announce her engagement to James Leroy Edwards, son, of Mr. and Mrs.- Robert Bryant Edwards of Beulavllle. The wedding will take place August 21. y , Marine Corps, brother of the bride, served as best man. Ushers were Paul Jones, Linden Stocker, Rus sell Turner and Jimmy Roop. ' Following the ceremony a recep tion was held in the church. A lace cloth covered the bride's table which held a three-tiered wedding cake decorated ., with miniature bridal figurines and flanked by lighted tapers and 'garden flowers. After a wedding trip to Cumber land Falls, the couple will reside in Montgobery County. The bride is a graduate nurse and is employed by the Mary Chiles Hospital in Mount Sterling. The groom is a student of the Col lege of the Bible, Lexington, and is minister of the Sugar Grove Christian Church He is a former resident of the Stanford community and is pre paring for work as a foreign mis sionary. ' Steed-Sutf on Vows Spoken Sunday . In an afternoon candlelight cere mony solemnized in the Warsaw Baptist Church Sunday afternoon, August first, at five o'clock. Miss Helen Christine Sutton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James L. ' Sutton of Warsaw, became the bride of Julius Frank Steed, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Steed. Dr. Alton Greenlaw officiated us ing the double ring ceremony. Nup tial music was presented by Mrs. MacDonald Brock, organist, and Miss Betty Phillips, vocalist. Given in marriage by her father the bride wore a gown of candle light satin with a dainty net yoke encrusted with tiny seed pearls. The bouffant skirt extended into a chapel train. Her fingertip veil of French illusion was draped to a brocaded calot (accented with seed pearls). She carried a satin covered pray er book, topped with a white or chid, showered with streamers tied with net and carnations. The bride's only adornment was a small gold cross, gift of the bridegroom. Miss Rita Sutton, maid of honor, was her sister's only attendant and wore a strapless gown of white net over taffeta with a satin brocaded bodice and matching net stole. Her head dress was a matching calot and she carried an old fashioned nosegay of yellow and lavender pom poms tied with yellow ribbon and filled with lavender mahne. The bride's mother wore an aft ernoon dress of navy lace over taffeta with navy accessories and a corsage of white carnations. The bride's grandmother, Mrs. Virginia Strickland, wore a dress of navy crepe with navy accessories and a corsage of white, carnations. John Steed of Warsaw was his brother's best man. Ushers were Harold Matthis, Jchnny Todd, Arnold Jones and L J. Quinn. Following the ceremony, the cou ple greeted guests in the vestibule of the church. For a wedding trip to the moun tains of North Carolina the bride chose an .ice blue silk shantung suit with white accessories and the orchid from her prayer book. Upon their return the couple will make their home in Warsaw where Mr. Steed is employed with West Auto Parts. Cake-Cutting Following the Steed-Sutton wed ding rehearsal, Mrs. Graham Phil lips entertained the, bridal party, at a cake cutting at her home." . Mrs. Phillips greeted the guests and Invited them Into the living room which was decorated .with arrangements of white zinnias and greenery, carrying out the bridal motif of green and white, i! " - Guests were directed to the dining room for refreshments. The buffet held an arrangement ot mixed dah lias, pink roses and stock flanked with silver candlebra bearing white tapers. The dining table centered with candle sticks, with, burning tapers, was tied with ribbon and fern. The three tiered bridal eake, topped with a wedding belL rested at one end of the table- with' the punch bowl at the opposite end. Mrs, O. S. Matthews served cake after the bridal couple had cut the 'first slice. Mrs. Arnold Jonas, pre- I 1 Mrs. Jimmy J. Bell, Jr. is the former Miss Naomi Ellen Eason, daughter ot Mr. and Mrs. John F. Eason of Warsaw. Her marriage to Mr. Bell took place July 16 in the Warsaw Baptist Church. Mr. Bell is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Bell of Charleston, S.C. 's Bridge - MRS. J. H. PARKER, COR. Ben Frank Outlaw were among those who attended the Grady-Out-law Executive meeting in the B. F. Grady School Sunday afternoon. Regular second Sunday morning services will be held at the Out law's Bridge Universalist Church at eleven o'clock Sunday. All are in vited to worship. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Williams, near the Blizzard-Holmes Mill, was destroyed by fire Sunday afternoon during the absence of the family. Janet. Flowers Birthday Party Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Flowers honored their little daughter, Janet by giving a party Monday evening celebrating her fourth birthday. Annyal Scout Party The girl scout troop held their annual scout party on Tuesday ev ening in the lodge building which was attractively and tastefully dec orated by the junior group of the troop. Each member of the troop brought an Invited guest Games were led by the troop leaders, Mrs. Wilkerson andMrs. Florence Cur rie. They were' assisted by members ot the executive committee. Party cakes and punch was served, by the senior group- of the troop.
