Explaining the reason for ch ancing the name of this patriotic holiday, Commander JBritt said. "Armistic Day was originally de dicated to the cause of world peace, and in the past has been regarded and observed throughout the cou ntry as a day to honor the Veterans of World War I who fought, and especially those who died, for that cause) ' The holiday, however, was ign sens of Duplin County will Join with red by many on the gronds that it 'was associated only with the sig ning of the Armistice on November 11, 1518, two wars ago. Since that time, the United States has fought in World War II and in Korea for the same objectives which World War 1 veterans fought to advance and preserve." Commander Britt pointed out that redesignating "Armistice Day" as Veterans Day" does not estab lish a new holiday, but "it expands the significance of an existing hol iday in order that a grateful nation on a day dedicated to the cause of World Peace, may pay proper hom age to all it's veterans who have contributed so much to that cause and to the preservation of the Ame ooooooooooo CHINQUAPIN N.
