Buies Creek spent the weekend with his family. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Simpson went to Fayetteville Monday to enter Ed in the Veterans Hospital for treatment. Mrs. N. B. Bpney attended a luncheon and executive meeting of the Red Cross at Cherry Point on Tuesday. She was accompanied by Mrs. G. V. Gooding. Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Wharton and Jean of Goldsboro, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ingram and Charles, and Marie Futrell toured the mountains of Va., Tenn., and N. C. for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Norwood Boney, Jr., and Chris of Greensboro were the guests of Mr. Boney's parents, last weekend. Mrs. H. M. West, Sr., Mrs. Lloyd Ferrell and the Rev. Lauren Sharpe attended the association of Baptist church on Tuesday. Rev. Sharpe participated in the days program. Mrs. Margaret Tucker and Mrs. Nora Shaffer were weekend guests of the Harvey Blakes at Burgaw. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Brinson Mrs. Evelyn Newman of faeven Springs spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jones. Billy Eubanks of Fort Jackson, S. C. spent the weekend with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Sykes. Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Lynch of Jackson ville visited the R. L. Sykes over the weekend. Mrs. Gavin Bridge Club Hostess Mrs. Vance Gavin was hostess to her bridge club on Tuesday ev ening. Lilies and asters were used in the hall and the living room. After several progressions the hostess assisted by Mrs. George Penney served ice cream and coco nut cake. Mrs. Robert Grady won high score and Mrs. J. B. Wallace was given second hig. Mrs. Estus Bland was co-hostess with Mrs. John Milton Singleton at her home on the Warsaw Highway, honoring Mrs Singleton's sister, Mrs. Jerry Walker of Faison with a stork shower. Various contest suggestions of "The Stork" and guessing games were played. After the games Miss Evelyn Bland and Miss Katie Bell &asser assisted the hostess in serv ing an attractive party plate con sisting of sandwiches, potato chips, cook.es and iced drinks. . The climax of the evening came when an attractive basket holding the many packages of various sizes and color was presented to Mrs. Walker, who 4n turn passed them a round to be admired by the guests. PTA Met Monday The Parent Teachers meeting was held at the high school on Monday evening. The president ot the group, Mr. Ellis Vestal, presided. After the usual business, committee ap pointments were made. Dr. Robert Willis spoke briefly to the group stressing the care of a youth's bru.ses and cuts. Plans were made for the pro grams for the coming year with the group looking forward to some col or slides next month that will be interesting as well as informative.
