Mr. and Mrs. M. L. 'Dixon of Kin ston attended the funeral of Mrs. Emily Lanier' last week who died after a lingering illness at her home. Mr. and Mrs. Hebourn Wilkins have just returned home from a two weeks visit with their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Wilkins of Wilmington Mr. Wilkins who had a foot injury several months ago, is able to resume her duties at her home now. Mrs. J. C. NofVis and Mr. and Mrs. W. Mrs. Nancy Walls entered James Walker Memorial Hospital in Wil mington last week for a maior op eration and I hope her every suc cess and an early recovery. Mr. Rav Batchlor. Mr. and Mrs. Rollen Norris and son Freddie ac companied Mrs. Raymond Batchlor to Ft. Jackson, S. C. last week to visit her husband. Set. Raymond Batchlor who recently re-enlisted in the army. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Bishop re turned to Jacksonville, Fla. last. week after spending a week or ten days leave with his mother, Mrs. V. Milloy and other friends and relatives here . . and in Pink Hill, Richlands, and Wallace. Mr. Walter Rivenbark who has been employed at a Clarkton To bacco market for a few months has returned home for the season and will be at home with his fam ily. Mrs. R. G. Rhodes of Richlands and mother, Mrs. Eula Sanderson are spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sanderson near Magnolia. Mr. "Sonny" Maybus of U. S. Navy, Norfolk, Va., has been visit ing with a pal, Mr. Jean Sanderson also of Norfolk and U. S. Navy. Mrs. Fennell Lanier was a recent visitor of a sister, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Sanderson of Magnolia for a day helping in tobacco it is presumed! The table were most at tractive with place mats using color ful colors. Mrs. J. O. Stokes, Mrs. Vernor. Reynolds and Mrs. Lawrence South erland assisted the hostess in Serv ing molded ices, suggestive of pum pkins decorated party cakes and nuts. During the several progressions of bridge, Flonie Currie assisted her mother in serving punch, cook ies and chese straws. Mrs. Mattie sadler was given a planter for high scoiy, Mrs Vance Gravin a box of Christmas wrapping paper for second high score and Mrs. Z. W. Frazelle a handy brush for last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Woodroe Wynn and .small daughter of Cherry Point was a .-ecent visitor of a sister, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Price and family over the weekend. Mrs. Charles Guthrie, Jr. was also remembered with a package from the hostesses. From a Pretty refreshment table whichn was overlaid with handsome cut work cloth and centered with an arrangement of late fall flowers, Mrs Williamson poured punch and Miss Pattie Williamson assisted in serving cookies wafers, mints and :iuts.
