Buster Merritt Celebrates Birthday Mrs. Henry Merritt entertained her son, Buster on his 7th birthday on October 15th at four o'clock. In door games were led and enjoyed by all little guests. A lovely white and pink and green birthday cake centered the dmingroom table, wnere individual cakes and ice cream were served. Halloween pop rwr were received by each guest. Sunbeams Met Monday Afternoon The Sunbeams met Monday af ternoon at the Baptist church at 2:30 o'clock with their leaders, Mrs. Ed Polinski, Mrs. Davis Hollings worth and Mrs. C. V. Garner. Mrs. Polinski gave the stewardship pro gram. Mrs. Eugene Johnstone served cookies and candy to the twenty present. Juniors Enjoy Weiner Roast A good time was had Friday night when a noisy, but happy crowd of juniors came togetner wun men leaders and department superinten dent to enjoy a weiner roast. The roast was held on the lawn of the Baptist Church. Junior G. A.'s Hold Meet The Junior G. A.'s met Monday afternoon at the Baptist church with eighteen present and their leaders, Mrs. Paul Potter and Mrs. Oliver Jones. Martha' Ann Barr, president presided and Dottie Hin son gave the stewardship program. Mrs Potter served refreshments to the group. Junior Garden Club Meet Held Friday The Junior Garden Club met Fri day evening in the ladies parlor of the Baptist Church at eight o'clock. Miss Barbara Jones, president, pre sided over the meeting and plans were made for the November pro grams. It was decided that the club members would assist Mrs. N. A. Smith, counselor of the club in dec orating the tables for the chicken supper to be held by the P. T. A. preceding the halloween carnival on October 30th. Mrs. O. S. Mathews of the Home Gardeners club, guest speaker, gave a very informative talk on color harmony illustrating with many col orful arrangements. Afterwards the members enjoyed making arrange ments of dried material. Hostesses were Miss Zona Quinn and Miss Lib West, who served hot chocolate and cookies. Barwick gave the devotional after which Rev. Nor man Flowers led in prayer. Mrs. M. A. Smith, program chairman, intro duced the speaker, Clarence War ren who gave a most informative talk concerning safety, fire preven tion and civil defense. Afterward, several students from the eighth grade gave an Interesting explana tion of the United Nations, illustrat ing with attractive posters. During the business session plans were made for the veterans Day on November 11 at which time the P. T. A. will sell barbecue at the school lunchroom. Plana were made for the chicken supper to be held at the school lunchroom preceding the haL loween (carnival on October 30th, Mrs. M. A. Smith's room Won the room count. Susan Brown Honored With Party Mrs. Glenn Brown entertained her daughter Susan on her 6th birth day, October 26th from three-tnmy until five o'clock. Mrs. Brown also invited each little girl's doll dressea in her very best outfit. Upon arrival each doll was presented a baloon on a string. Next, the girls made necklaces for their dolls by string ing various beads together and made paper corsages for the dolls. A treasure hunt and singing game were enjoyed. The little dolls were served at a very small table with a tiny bouquet in the center of the table, while the little eirls were seated at a larger table, centered with a large birthday cake made in the form of a doll. Be side each of the little mothers plate was a special gift from the dolls to their mothers. Guests were served pink and blue individual cakes and strawberry ice cream. , At the conclusion all mothers and dolls presented their gifts to Susan in a doll trunk filled with many useful gifts. Those attending were: Mary Fran ces Hines, Katherine Fountain, Abi gale Warren, Diane Wahab, Gail Revell, Linda Grice, Jeanette Britt, Ann Miller and Kathy Benton.
