Presbytery Holds Meet At Pink Hill ' A visitation team from Wilming ton Presbytery was . present at a Union meeting of Presbyterian Young People held at the American Legion Hut Sunday afternoon. The purpose ' was to discuss . activities and programs for the year. Mrs. B C. McQueen at -Clinton was ad visor for the adult group, and Miss Frances Kiag,. chairman . of. the Young People. Attends Meeting In Kinston Jlodney Kornegay, president of the Herring Store Lions Club, Al berUon, Rt. 1, and Henry Westbrook a nehiber, were In Kinston, Thurs day evening to attend a regular ses sion of the' Kinston Club at the ho teL Graveside Riles Held, Troy Smith Funeral services for Troy Smith,. 38, of Albertson, Rt. 1, were held from the graveside in Malpass Cemetery at 3:00 p. m., Saturday. Smith died at his home Thursday night. He is survived by j two sis ters, Mrs. Mutie Langston, with whom he lived and Mrs. Mattle Chambers of Albertson. P. H. Civitan Club Host, Kinston Club The Pink Hill Civitan Club with Frank Wiley as president, was host to the Kinston Club at a joint meet ing in the recreation rooms of the Pink Hill, Presbyterian Church, Thursday night, November 18. B. K. Dean, weather forecaster of S tail ings Air Base, gave an informative talk on weather' formations, causes and effects. The Women of the Presbyterian Church served a tur key supper to the group. . Tuscarora Council Holds Banquet ' The ljuplin District of Tuscarora Council of boy scouts held their annual banquet in the B. F. Grady School cafeteria, Tuesday night, November 16, a turkey dinner with all the trimmings was served. Joe E. Brown'of Lillington, field scout executive was master of ceremon ies. Bruce Boyers of Goldsboro, Tuscarora Council executive, talked to the group. Mr. W. Walker Stev ens, retiring president of Warsaw. presented the new officers. They are: President, Charles Powell of Wallac; vice-president, Robert Holt, Pink Hill; secretary and treasurer, Paul Ingram of Kenansville. B. F. Grady, Den. No. 1 put on a skit on signing the constitution. Den 2 pre sented a skit of the Boston Tea Party. Mothers of Pack 40 were in charge of the supper. To Receive Gunners Mate 2nd class George Howard of Pink Hill expects to re ceive discharge from the U, S. Navy, following - three years ser vice, Monday, November 29. He Is son of Mr. fend Mrs. Earl Howard and has been stationed for some time at Hoboken, N. Bureau members was scheduled to be held, at the V. T. W, Hut at 8:30 p. m., Tuesday. The quota set for that' township was 167 members and according to Chairman John W. Howard, the township would go over the top be fore that time... Pleasant Hill OES Hold Initiation The Pleasant Hill chapter No. 102, 6. E. S., held an initiation meeting at the lodge on Thursday night, November 18. Mrs. W. W. Smith was admitted as a new member. The meeting was in charge of Leslie Kennedy, Past Patron of the Beu lavUle Chapter. Mrs. Ervin Hill of Olympia, Washington was present and talked to the chapter on their rules and regulations, procedure. Mrs. Gaynelle Tyndall, Mrs. Caralee Sparrow and Mrs. Jane Davenport served refreshments of cake and punch. ' Personals Mrs. W. H. Jones and Mrs. G. M. Turner recently visited relatives and friends in Charlotte and Ka- napolis for a few days. Mr. L. H. Turner expects to leave during the weekend for Bowling Green, Kentucky where he will be on the tobacco market for approx imately a month. Mr. H. C. Turner was a Raleigh business visitor Monday. , Mr. and Mrs. Herald Latham and twin daughters left recently for Norfolk, Va. to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lawton and two children of Surf City visited relatives in the Pink Hill area on Sui'day. Mr. and Mrs. Roland J. Smith and Mr. Donald Smith of Kinston visited relatives here Sunday. Lt. Kenneth Maxwell of Ft Bragg spent, the weekend with his fath er, Mr. E. R. Maxwell. Rev. B. E. Dotson has returned to Mt. Olive after having conduct, ed a revival at the Pink Hill Pres byterian Church the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Faison Turner and children Ben and Annette and Mrs. Scott Herring spent the weekend in Greensboro; guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Herring and family. Mr. and Mrs. Lehman Williams and sons, Glenn and Melvin, and Mrs. M. J. Whaley of Beulaville were guests Sunday of Master Sgt. and Mrs. Milton Whaley end-lamlJ ly in Wilson. Mrs. Whaley will be their guest through this week. Mrs. Freeley Smith and Miss Annie Katharine Rhodes, who have been on a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Allen Rhodes and family at an ar my base in California, are expect ed home this week, and will be ac companied by the Rhodes family, who will visit relatives.
