Kennedy was the first clerk. The first church was built near the small community which is now called pine ridge between Beula viile ana Pink bill. It was moved to the present lo cation about ISMS because the first church was burned by lightning. Some of the pastors who have served the Aurch are: Reverends W I. Smith, H. Cunningham, A. E. Rouse, G. Whaley, John E. Howard, F. F. Wallace, H. J. Whaley, G. W. Kennedy, R. C. Kennedy, Floyd Vernon, H. Pipkins, S. R. Kennedy, C. D. Hamilton and the Rev. W. S. Burns who is now our pastor. Rev. Burns has begun, his fifth year with us. The ones who have gone out as licensed preachers from this church re G. W. Kennedy, R, C. Kennedy, H. J. Whaley, T. J. Potter, Abner Outlaw, Rashie Kennedy, Thurman Smith and Frank Jackson. There has been two churches or ganized from this church. In the recent years the church hag purchased two busses for the Sunday School. The present enroll ment is 154. We have two depart ments in our Sunday School with 6 classes in one and 3 classes in the annex. Last year the church built a par sonage, valued at about $7,000 and lt is free of all debts now. Rachel Davis read the scripture and 'the Rev. M. M. Turner led In prayer. Miss Eleanor Bowden read an article from the PTA. Bulletin on " AGood Parent and a Good Teacher." ' The Rev. W. burkette Raper, pres ident of Mount Olive college, was the guest speaker.' In his address, Raper gave illustrations of how teachers can cooperate. He was in troduced by Mrs. Lloyd Hontz, pro gram chairman. Mrs. D. V. Gwaltney, president, presided over the business session, during which Mrs. Hilda Sutton read the state president's message for the month, and Mrs. Davis gave a report on the district meet ing at Topsail Beach. Seal Sale was set for $4000, by the exec utive committee of the Duplin Co. T. B. Association which met Mon day night in the Duplin Health Center. To stress the importance of the T.B. Seal Sales, the following fig ures were quoted by Mrs. Mary Taylor, Executive Secretary of the Duplin County T.B. Association. No. white patients from Duplin in T.B.
