Mrs. Clute Rivenbark headed the
receiving line and wore a lovely
corsage of purple ponpons tied with
nylon tulle. She introduced, the
guests to the honoree,' who wore
a beautiful purple orchid corsage.
Next in line was the honoree's mo
ther, Mrs. Roy Matthis of Warsaw
who wore yellow ponpons tied with
nylon tulle and ending the receiving
line was Mrs; Elbert Matthis of
Warsaw, sister-in-law of the hon
oree, wearing a corsage of orchid
ponpons.
Mrs. J. W. Powell, Sr., and Mrs.
Jack Cooper of Rose Hill directed
the callers to the dining room and

The dining table was covered with
a beautiful hand - crocheted table
cloth over pink. Tea was poured
from each end of the table by Mrs.
S. G. Jones and Mrs. George L.
Brown from exquisite silver, ser
vices. Two. three-branched candelabra
were on each end of the table hold
ing pink tapers trimmed with pink
nylon tulle and fern. The center of
the table had a silver footed bowl
containing a lovely all-pink flower
arrangement of snapdragons, car
nations and leather leaf foliage.
The buffet had two crystal cand
elabra with pink tapers on each
end in the center an antique crystali
cut-glass, bowl holding an all pink
flower arrangement of snapdrag
ons, carnations and leather leaf fo
liage. -
Serving In the dining room were
Mrs. Tommy Baker, Mrs. Cecil Wor-
sley, Mrs. C. J. James, Miss Hen
rietta Cooper, and Miss Jane Cur-
rie. Fancy .sandwiches, sand dunes,
mints, nuts and tea were served to
the guests.
Mrs. J. W. Powell, Jr, and Mrs. J.
D. Robinson, Jr, directed the callers
from the dining room to the register
in the living room. Presiding over
the register were Misses Margaret
and Rebecca Colwell and Mrs. L.
W. Williams of Chapel Hill. On the
table with the register was a deli
cate crystal candelabrum with pri
sms holding four pink tapers. On
the bottom of the candelabrum was
a flower arrangement of pink snap
dragons, with, ponpons and green
foliage. A miniature bride's doll was
also on the table, dressed in an id
entical wedding dress of the hon
oree. In the. living room on the piano
was1 an antique cut-glass footed
bowl with an arrangement of. pink
snapdragons, pink carnations, white
ponpons and leather leaf foliage.
An arrangement of white snap
dragons and orchid ponpons was in
the den.
All who helped receive and serve
at this lovely affair wore corsages
of pink and white carnations.

carnation corsage upon arrival.
The home was most attractive for
this occasion, carrying out the pink
and white motif. Arrangements of
asters and gladioli adorned the liv
ing room and the coffee table held a
low crystal bowl filled with pink
nosegays of maline and carnations.
Mrs. Bill Byrd was awarded the
high bridge prize, a brass serving
tray and Mrs. Nelson Carlton was
the high score winner for scrabble.

All of the circles of the Warsaw
Presbyterian Church v had as their
Bible Study, "Isaac and Rebecca"
Ideals of Family Partnership" and
tor their program "World Missions."
Circle I met Monday afternoon In
the home of their chairman, Mrs:
E. B. Lashley, with Mrs. W. A. Po
well as co-hostess.
Mrs. Henry L. Stevens, Jr., gave
the Bible Study and Mrs. Edwin
Sheffield presented the program for
the afternoon.
At conclusion of the meeting the
hostesses served chocolate pie,
toasted nuts and coffee.
Circle II met on Monday after
noon with Mrs. Walker Stevens as
hostess.
Mrs. Lott Kornegay, chairman
presided over the meeting and after
a brief business period, Mrs. Edwin
Ewers led the Bible Study and Mrs.
Tommy Gresham gave the pro
gram.
During the business, plans were
discussed for a World Mission Pro
gram and family supper to be held
Monday, February 20 at the church.
The hostess served refreshments
to the 10 members present at con
clusion of the meeting.
Circled IV met Monday in the
home of Mrs. B. C. Sheffield, Sr.
with their chairman, Mrs. Allen
Draughan, Jr., presiding over the
meeting.
Mrs. Frank Hayslip gave the Bl-
ble Study and Miss Mamie Bethea
presented the program.
14 members were present.
The hostess served individual
cherry pie topped with whipped
cream, toasted nuts, ham biscuits
and coffee.
Methodist Circles
All five of the Warsaw Methodist
Circles met Monday night and had
as their program a study titled "A
Serious Call To A Devout and Holy
Life" written by William Law
which stressed the importance of
leading a serious Christian life. This
was the fourth chapter of the Five
Spiritual Classics.
Circle I met in the home of Mrs,
Gordon West with 7 members pres
Mrs. Sam Godwin, chairman pre
sided over the meeting and open
ed by asking Mrs. Carrie Middle
ton, devotional leader to give the
devotional.
Mrs. Eugene Beasley presented
the program after which the hostess
served refreshments of strawberry
short cake and coffee.

Cottle as their hostess.
