Beulaville Drops
Undefeated
North Duplin, 24-13
Beulaville's Buddy Mercer pro
ved to be . too much for North
Duplin last Friday night, scor
ing four of the ' ' Panthers
touchdowns in their 24-13 win.
It was- the first lost for the Re
bels in the East Central-Confe-ence
and the second victory for
Coach Glenn Nixon's eleven.
North Duplin now has a 2-1 re
cord in the conference and Beula
ville has a 2-0-1.
North Duplin .outgained the
Panthers in a downpour but
could not lug the wet pigskin
across the goal line enough. Mer
cer out because of injury for
the past two weeks really put
on a one man show scoring on
runs of 41, 35, and 21 yards and
on a pass and run covering 77
yards. The Rebels touchdowns
came on a 29 yard run by Harper
Pridgen and on a 24-yard pass
from Jack Precythe to John Me
Kenley. 1
Although they lost the Rebels
of Coach Dick Kaleel gained 244
rushing to Beulaville's
160 yards. Both teams did a' bit
of fumbling with North Duplin
turning the trick five times whi
le Beulaville four. j
Outstanding on defense lea

the Beulaville line as a whole
did an outstanding job. Jimmy
