Met "Take Time To Live" wfls the title of the program presented to members of the Penny Branch Home Demonstration by Mrs. Lois Britt, assitant agent, when the club met last Wednesday afternoon in the home of Mrs. Y. L. Smith. The meeting which was presided over by Mrs. E. C. Wray, president, was opened with the club collect, followed by the unison singing of "Onward, Ever Onward", the club song. Mrs. Ray Batts presented the devotional taken from the twclth chapter of Romans. During the business meeting. Mrs. Smith gave the secretary's and the treasurer's report and Mrs. Wray thanked members as well as the public for the cooperation they showed in making the barbecue supper a succes. Reports were then heard from the following chairmen; Housing Re port., given by Mrs. Mattie Tor rans; Home Dairy, given by Mrs. Batts and Poultry report, given by Mrs. Bruce Torrans. Mrs. Britt's talk begun by saying "What each individual puts into his time determines what kind of per son he is, what kind of life he lives, and what contribution he makes to the people around him and to the whole wide world." She also gave three good rules for living at one's best which are- as follows. - (U Accept cheerfully new situations j (2) Think of others and their needs and lastly, turn to God for help with your problems. Wray was guest speaker to the Business and Profes sional Women's Club which met last Monday evening in the home of Mrs. Joe Kornegay. Miss Mary Alice Blackmore, pre sident, presided at the meeting and after a brief business session, Mrs. J. P. Harnjon introduced Patrol man Wray who presented a most helpful program on health and saf ety, explaining in detail the point system and answered many ques tions regarding highway safety. At the conclusion of the meeting, Mrs. Kornegay served cherry pie-a-la-mode, sandwiches and coffee to those attending. Club Hostess Mrs. Joe Costin entertained mem bers of her bridge club one evening last week at her home here. Those attending were Mesdames Roy Barwick, J. T. Mrs. Barwick received plastic ard holders as high score winner; Irs Quinn received a wall memo as traveling award and consolation was received by Mrs. Newman. Club Meets With Miss Thomas Mrs. Allen Draughon, Jr. was high scorer receiving a novelty penny jar as her award when Miss Fannie Thomas was hostess to members of her bridge club last Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Mortice Jordan received second high award and Mrs. Ed. Strickland received consolation award. Others playing were Mesdames J. H. Hines, F. A. Mitchner, Bill Sheffield, J. T. Gres ham, Edwin Sheffield. Miss Thomas served soft drinks and chocolate covered peanuts dur ing play and at the conclusion, am brosia, topped with whipped cream and pound cake.
