tic Primary which was held on May
26. This ended a long political bat
tle which had been hard-fought in
Duplin for the ' past eight weeks.
Kenneth G. Grady, a candidate to
succeed himsefl in the Primary,
was high man In the run-off for
Commissioner of the second district
composed of Cabin, Glisson, Wolf
scrape, Smith and Albertson Town
ships. Grady was trailing William
G. Sullivan by 82 votes in the First
Primary and in the second Primary

Fish Pond Friday
A 14-year old boy drowned near
Magnolia' Friday afternoon while
fishing with his father in a private
pond.
Stephen Boyd Dunn, son of Mr.
and Mrs. John Henderson Dunn,
apparently stepped in a deen hole
while wading In the pond and could
not swim,' said Duplin Coroner Hec
tor McNeill. His father was On the
other side at the time, McNeill ad
ded. The body was recovered by the
Rose Hill Rescue Squad about one
hour later.
Surviving, in addition to his fa
ther, are mother, Mrs. Lena Dunn;
one brother, Johnny Emile; and two
sisters, Nelda Lee and Sherry Jane
Dunn, all of the home.

' Jacob Smith, colored, of Teachey,
was tried in Federal Court during
the past week for misuse of tobacco
marketing card in 1958. He was fin
ed $250.00 and sentenced to 2-14
years and payment of the fine!
