Planning retreat The Human Relations Commission will host a planning retreat on Satur day, April 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Our Lady of the Highways Catholic Church, 943 Ball Park Road, Thomas ville. Relay For Life High Point’s 2010 Relay For Life will take place Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Southwest High School. Relay is a ma jor annual fund raiser sponsored by the American Cancer Society in the fight to find a cure for cancer. This event will be a character builder for participants while having a lot of fun working with peers from throughout the area and supporting a very worthwhile cause. Kindergarten registration Parents whose children will be enter ing kindergarten next fall are asked to register their children for kindergar ten immediately so they may receive necessary information concerning health forms and pre-kindergarten as sessment. Children are to be registered at the elementary school in the atten dance area in which they live. Students are eligible to begin kinder garten in the fall if they will be 5 years of age on or before Aug. 31, 2010. At the time of kindergarten regis tration, students will be scheduled for a pre-kindergarten assessment so teachers will have information about students for planning purposes before school begins in the fall. A conference wiU be held with each parent on the day of the assessment. The following is needed for enroll ment: A copy of the child’s birth certificate or other legally acceptable proof of age; A health assessment completed no more than 12 months prior to the date of school entry; Proof of required immunizations; The child’s social security card. Proof of residency may include: Legal guardian’s driver’s license with 911 address; Voter registration or tax listing with 911 address; Utility bni at 911 address. Making handmade pine cone wreaths Davidson County Department of Senior Services Senior Dynamics pro gram and Robert and Marian Greeson will hold a creat-your-own pine cone wreath event. The wreath is made-with various kinds of pine cones and other natural items such as acorns, hickory nuts and sweet gum balls. The classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning April 6 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Thomasville Se nior Center, located at 211 W. Colonial Drive, in suite 103. Antique appraisals The Davidson County Department of Senior Services Senior Dynamics program has teamed up with A1 Braye, Antique Appraisal expert, who will identify antiques, collectibles and art to determine their true value. The appraisal will take place at the Lexington Senior Center at 106 Alma Owens Drive on April 8 from 1 to 5 p.m. There is a $15 charge, which includes 15 minutes of appraisal time for up to five items per individual. Seniors must bring the actual item — no pho tographs. Appraisals are limited to the first 16 seniors age 55 and older who register. Appraisals are done by ap pointment only. Spaghetti Supper United Methodist Men will hold a buffet-style, all-you-can-eat spaghetti , supper on Wendesday, April 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will take place at New Mt.
