able to strike out C.L.
Snider, though, then took
part in getting a runner

damage.
CDHS added a sacrifice
fly in the fourth to add
the fifth run.
Meanwhile, East was
giving away chances to
score and Beck kept find

jams.
A pair of leadoff dou

runners at second and
third, but they would
never move again. Beck
struck out the next three

shut.
“Cody pitched a really
good ballgame, and they
obviously deserved to
win it,” said Tricarico.
East put runners on
first and third with one

again could not work
some magic. A 6-4-3 dou

off the board and the
Spartans in control.
Needing to make some

The Spartans tacked on
an additional run in the
sixth, then had to survive
one last effort from the
Eagles in the seventh.
East loaded the bas
es with two outs, and
brought the go-ahead run
to the plate which hap
pened to be slugger Tyler
Lequire. It was a guy the
Eagles would want step
ping in with the game on
the line, but Beck showed
no fear. Ahead 2-2 in the
count. Beck delivered the
pitch and got Lequire to
go down swinging, end
ing the night.
With two games left on
the conference schedule,
it appears the best East
can hope for is second
place. The Spartans ap
pear to be headed to a
conference champion
ship with Lexington and
West Davidson remain- _
ing in their path.
“Realistically, they
have a lock on first place
and we are battling for
second place,” Tricarico
said.
Hawks wound up bat

Shetley added two hits.

was unimpressive, as she
was tagged with 13 runs
over seven innings, but
eight of the runs came
in the sixth and seventh

was decided. Only three
of the 13 were earned.
With the
