2 - Thomasville Times - Thursday, June 10,2010 Thomasville Community Garden Thomasville Commimity Garden wUl begin weekly work days starting Mon day, June 14, at 10 a.m. This comming Monday being the first weekly Monday work day — always starting at 10 a.m. — volunteers will be spreading mulch, working the weeds, picking some produce and doing a little painting. Wear the appropriate clothing and shoes, and bring gloves, a hat, sun screen and water to drink. Hospice cookbooks Hospice of Davidson County will re lease a 25th anniversary cookbook with contributions from stafif, volunteers and members of the commimity. The 25th anniversary cookbook, titled “Recipes and Remembrances from the Heart,” will be available mid-September. The hardback cookbook will feature a healthy choices section for diabetics and vegetarians in addition to traditional sub-categories. The cookbook wUl also feature a self-supporting bookstand. AU profits from cookbook sales wUl benefit Hospice of Davidson County patients and their famUies. Recipe submissions are currently being accepted and may be submitted in memory or in honor of a loved one. Contributions wUl be reviewed by a committee comprised of Hospice of Da vidson County volunteers and must be received by Friday, June 18. Big Chair tulip bulbs ThomasvUle City Beautification is taking orders for Big Chair tulip bulbs. Cost is 25 bulbs for $20, 50 bulbs for $35, 75 bulbs for $45,100 bulbs for $50. Yard of the Week The City Beautification Committee is currently seeking nominations for Yard of the Week. To be eligible for Yard of the Week, the yard must be maintained by the homeowner. Yards that are pro- fessionaUy maintained are not eligible. To nominate a yard, contact Crystal Hodges at 476-8675. Have the homeown er’s name, telephone mnnber and ad dress when caUing. Yards are named for the weeks May 1 through July 31. Raffle The SUver VaUey Civitan Club is con ducting a smnmer raffle with proceeds designated for various service projects, including those that benefit people with disabUities. The grand prize is a 32-inch flat screen television with the winning ticket to be drawn July 26. Domestic violence support group Women ages 18 and up are invited to participate in a free, open support group for survivors of domestic violence. This support group is professionaUy facUi- tated and is aimed at helping women who have experienced domestic vio lence heal from their traiima and move forward with healthy lives. The support group meets every Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. ChUdcare is avaUable.
