Embler Mr. Larry Roscoe Em bler, 73, of 110 BeU Drive, died Saturday morning, June 26, 2010, in the Hin kle Hospice Home in Lex ington. He was born Feb. 21, 1937, in Guilford County, a son of the late McCoy Lee Embler and Mariha Leonard Embler. Mr. Em bler was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a retired truck driver. Helen Crowder Finch Helen Virginia Crowder Finch, of 405 Frank Cir cle (Piedmont Crossing Retirement Community), Thomasville, died Sun day June 27, 2010, at the Hinkle Hospice Home in Lexington. She was born Nov. 26, 1919, in High Point, N.C., and was the daughter of Lillian Lee Hawthorne and Maxey Jefferson Crowder. She was educat ed in the High Point pub lic schools and graduated from High Point College in 1941. On March 7, 1942, she married Harry Browne Finch, who preceded in her death on Jan. 19, 1988. Ms. Finch was a homemaker, and an ac tive member in Memorial UnitedMethodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Thomasville Women’s Club, and Hos pital Guild. She had three children: Sharon Finch Van Vechten of Chapel HUl, N.C., David Bruce Finch, who preceded her in death Feb. 16,1991, and Charles Franklin Finch of Hillsborough, N.C.; and two granddaughters, Kathr5m Marley Finch Russell (Mrs. Stuart Hale Russell) of Winston-Sa lem, N.C., and Suzanne Muller Finch of Durham, N.C. Also surviving are sis ters, Mildred Crowder Little of Chapel HiU, N.C., Joan Crowder Christy of Canton, N.C. and Geneva Crowder Warren and her husband Lloyd of High Point, N.C.; a brother, Richard Crowder, and his wife Barbara, of Lake Junaluska, N.C.; sisters- in-law, Darby Crowder of Thomasville, N.C. and Janice Crowder of High Point, N.C.; former daughter-in-law Anne Law Finch of Durham, N.C. and many nieces and nephews. On March 24, 1951, she married GUbert Lee Pierce. Mr. and Mrs. Pierce owned and operat ed Pierce Tire Service in Winston- Salem for many years before their retire ment. In addition to her hus band of 59 years, Gilbert Lee Pierce, she is sur vived by her daughters, Carolyn Pierce and her husband Eddie Bernard of Murfreesboro and Lydia Sue Pierce Rook of ThomasviUe, N.C.; a son, PhUlip Pierce and his wife DaNeU Lynn Pierce of Lexington, N.C.; grandson, PhUip Rook, and granddaugh ter, Kasey Rook, both of ThomasviUe and four great-grandchildren. Darrell "Buddy" Pritchett Mr. DarreU Gray “Buddy” Pritchett died Saturday, June 26, 2010, at ThomasvUle Medical Center due to complica tions related to his fojur year battle with lung can cer. He was born Feb. 1, 1936, in ThomasvUle, a son of the late Rufus RandaU and Rosa Virgie Hartman Pritchett. Mrs. Pritchett was a 1954 grad uate of ThomasvUle High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954- 1958. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bach elor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He worked as a power distribution engineer for the City of High Point, Randolph County EMC and Pee Dee Electric, and as an electronics instruc tor at Davidson County Community CoUege. He also owned his won elec tronics repair business for many years. An avid genealogist for over 20 years, he gathered infor mation on over 5,000 indi viduals in his famUy tree and traced his famUy’s roots as far back as the early 1800s. On Sept. 26, 1960, he was married to Martha Ann Davis who preceded him in death in 1999. He is survived by sons Gary Pritchett and his wife Cathey, and Clayton Pritchett and his wife Re becca; a daughter.
