New Hope , By Miss Elizabeth Kirkland Mrs. Henry Tapp, Mrs. John Kirkland, Mrs. Winston Strayhom, M,-s. John Freeland and Elizabeth Kirkland attended the meeting of district No. 3 in the Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church Tuesday, October 1. This district embraces Orange and Alamance counties with 20 Auxiliaries. The Auxiliaries in Orange county are Little River, North Eno, Eno, Fairfield, Hills boro, Efland, New Hope, Chapel Kill, Bethlehem. In Alamance, Stoney Creek, Cross Roads, Bur lington 2nd, Burlington, Piedmont, East Burlington, Graham, Beth any, Mebane, Hawfield, Shiloh. An address on Home Missions was given by the Rev. Edgar Woods, pastor of Graham Church. The Youth Program was present ed by Betty Scott Barbour of Pittsboro. The closing address was given by Dr. Henry Patterson of Greensboro, executive secretary of Orange Presbytery. Dinner was served by the Chapel Hill Auxiliary. • * * The Rev. O. V. Caudill of Salis bury, Synod’s Church Architect, preached at New Hope last Sun day and met with the session board of deacons and the young men’s group for the purpose of making plans for building Sunday sehbol rooms. PERSONALS Kenneth Strayhom of Maxton Junior College and Alfred Kirk land of State College spent the weekend at home. The Viola Powell circle met with Mrs. Winston Strayhom Tuesday, October V, at 8 pin. Members present were Mrs. N. M. SAILS FOR EUROPE Theodore Charles Reidt of Hills boro sailde from Newport News, Va., for Gdansk, Poland, on the S. S. Saginaw Victory as a cattle attendant on September 23, 1946. Five thousanod naoutical cowboys have been recruited from all the states in the Union as well as Can ada.
