Name As
Boxing Star
Cornelius E. Liner, son of Mr.
and Mrs. E. C. Liner of Hillsboro,
is making quite a name for him
self as a boxer at Georgia Mili
tary Academy, College Park, Ga.,
judging from a recent clipping
taken from “The Gamilacad,”
school newspaper.
The clipping follows:
“Well, it seems that the Kaydets
have the boxing spirit pretty well
now. With Woodall, that new whiz,
on the team, and ‘Lullaby” Liner
another outstanding new boxer
slinging fists now we ought to do
pretty well.
“On Friday night, Tech High
ventured to GMA only to Be over
powered and sent home in defeat.
Liner, of GMA, in the 155 lb. class,
defeated Armstrong in the first
round, on a TJS.O. Liner’s hard,
powerful left lashed out contin
ually to smash and crumble Arm
strong uyj.il his manager threw in
. (lie tuwcL .
“The boxing tournament, in
which the companies oP the Ca
det Corps participated, came to ;
close last week between “B” Com
pany and ‘G” company. One of the
physical events on the program
brought two roommates, together
These two gladiators were Rufus
Ward and “Lullaby” Liner. Both
boys boxed extremely well, but
the bout ended with a slight mar
gin • pointfng toward Ward’s cor
ner. Liner held up “B” company’s
honor, but Ward won for “G”
company.”
