The hostess and assistants served chicken salad sandwiches, cookies and punch. * * * Memorial Service Held Carrboro—A memorial service was held in the First Presbyterian Church of Burlington on last Mon day afternoon at 3 o’clock by the Auxiliary of the church in honor of the late Mrs. R. D. Bain, mother of Mrs. Sam Lockhart, teacher of the fourth grade, in the Carrboro isehool, who attended the service^n Burlington together with ,all the sons and d'aligThters of- Mrs.- Bain.- - - Health Meetings Held Carrboro—The regular health meeting of the teachers of the Carrboro school together with teachers from the White Cross school 8 miles from Carrboro was held in the Carrboro on last Tues day afternoon. The speaker was W. Carson Ryain wthose health suggestions were helpful to schools in the county. Hundley, four miles south of Chapel’ Hill, on the .Farrington Road. - Chicken stew, home made cakes, pie and coffee will be of fered. _The Mt. Carmel club is having the supper to make money to con tribute to the new parsonage to be built for the Mt. Carmel Church. The contract for the parsonage has already been let to contractors, Phillip Sparrow and Carl Elling ton, and' is to be erected directly in front of the church. The con tractors will begin the work as soon as the weather permits, and the building expected to be com pleted by September 1, as an nounced by the pastor, Rev. Thomas Bland. Rev. Bland and twelve members of the Mt. Carmel church are tending the State Baptist W. M~ U.‘ Convention being bfeld this week in the First Baptist church in Greensboro. Dobson, extension agronomy spe cialist and Dr. R. L. Lovvorri, pro fessor of yiled crops, both of State' College, say the good hay is need ed in any balanced feed program. And alfalfa, “king of the hay | crops,” can be grown in North Carolina, they added. Alfalfa is rich in proteins, min erals, vitamin A and D and is es- j pecially good for dairy cattle and i all types of young growing stock. It grows four years or more and yields three tons of hay each year.
