Mrs. West is the widow of Mr. West’s brother the late Dr. Gordon We^t, of New Jersey. Mr. West’s sister, Mrs. Gus Brogden, returned to her home near Durham on Monday of this week after a visit here of several days with Mr. and Mrs. West. Mr. and Mrs. Jarhes' Yates, Trillis Hackney, Betty Collins, Peggy Billings and Jesse Luxton enjoyed an all-day outing and pic nic near Hillsboro last Monday. Chicken pox is prevalent here in the last few weeks especially affion tife students in school. ^ Miss Bobby Lue Clark is ill with mumps. —Mrs. Sallie Ball came with her daughter, Mrs. Gordon West, from -New- Jersey- to visit Mr. and-Mrs, I. A. West. Other guests at the West home this week were Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Lanning who came from Providence Forge, Va. - Miss Jane Lanning from Montreat and Miss Sara Nesbitt of Mt. Carmel. Mr., and Mrs. E. W. Hobby have returned to their home near Meb ane after a visit here with rela tives, M;r. and Mrs, Bayrtian Upchurch have been visiting relatives in Farrineton. ' Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Gibbs spent the week end in Durham with relatives. Mr.-and Mrs. J. W. Claris, Sr., visited relatives in Greensboro and Mebane for the Easter holidays. , Mr. and R. G. Cheek who has been in declining health for some time was taken seriously ill at his home Here on last Friday morning. His condition, though serious,. 4s somewhat improved. Mrs. Nellie Williams has been visiting Mr. and MrS Edd Hobby in Mebane: MiT'and Mrs. Hobby are formerly of Carrboro. Mr. Hobby has been- very ill. Mrs. Clayton McFayden and children of Wilmington have been the guests this week of Mrs. Mc Fayden’s mother,' Mrs. Ira Spar row and other relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Mann, Bobby Clark and Freddie Baxter attend ed the Moravian Easter sunrise service in Winston-Salem last Sunday. They also visited several places of interest in the- mountains in the western part of the State before returning home. , ‘ Mrs. Howard Sparrow had her tonsils removed in Dr. Boone’s Hospital in Durham on Wednes day of this week. Guthrie near Graham .at the week end. Orange Aids In Purchase Of Equipment; Chapel Hill—Five-County chap ters of the North Carolina division of the National Foundation for In fantile Paralysis in the Durham area have entered into a co-opera I tive arrangement for the purchase j of equipment for the use in treat ment of infantile paralysis in this i section, it was announced here to day by Philip S Randolph, state x'epresentative. .The counties are Caswell, Chat ham, Durham, Orange and Per son, and each is contributing on a pro rata of population basis.
