Mrs. Robert Warren Assists In Celebration Honoring Mrs. Malone On Birthday Hillsboro — Mrs. Robert F. Warren, Jr., of Hillsboro and Cha pel Hill was among those receiv ing when Mrs. Mollie Warren Malone was guest of honor Sun day, February 25, at a party on her 80 birthday. The celebration was given by her sons and daugh ‘ers-in-law, Mr .and Mrs- C. L. Malone of Mebane ,and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Malone of Prospect Hill, at the latter's home. Guests were greeted at the doer by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Warren and introduced to the honoree, Mrs. M9l°net „who wore , a blue dress with a lace yoke and a purple throated orchid corsage. Galdioli, red roses, snapdrag ohe and blue iris were used In various arrangements through out the home with red, white and blue colors predominating. In the hall, there was a mini ature cherry tree and hatchet carrying out the George Washing ton theme in the decorations. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Warren of Dur ham1 invited the; gpests into- -the lining room where the tatye was -ovefed with a cut-work linen doth and centered with red^-white and blue carnations. Mrs. Irvin_ Warren poured coffee. Others assisting in serving the ices, cof fee, cake, nuts and mints werel_ Mrs. C. B. McNeely of Drexfel, Mrs. Brevitt Hook, Mrs. W. C, Staples of Danville, Mrs. Arthur Stanfield and Miss Nancy Warren of Durham. Miss Marian Warren of Durham presided over the guest register. Receiving elsewhere in the home were: Mrs. Robert Sat terfield, and Miss Myrtle Mebane. Brown & Sons Hillsboro, PRESBYTERIAN CIRCLE8 HOLD REGULAR MEETINGS The three circles/ of the Hills boro Presbyterian Church held their regular meetings Monday afternoon and night with “Prayers of Paul” as .the Bible studies. The Mary Bradshaw circle met Monday afternoon with Mrs. Sam Kirkland. Mrs. Alice Cates pre sented the study. Pie and coffee were sedved to 14 numbers pre sent. Circle No. 2 held its meeting at the home of Mrs, Lumhanri Latta with the following present: Mrs. Ernest Patterson1! Miss Mary Clay tor, Mrs. Irvin Birdseye,) Mrs. Fred Cates, Jr., Mrs. Odell Clay ton and Mrs. Etono Veasley. Mrs, Birdseye conducted the Bible study. f Mrs. Owen Robertson was, host ess for the meeting of Circle 3 with 15 present. Mrs. Fred Cates had charge of the program. ---o--— CIRCLE MEETS The Cantrell Circle of the Hills - boro Baptist Church held its monthly meeting Monday at the home of Mrs. Fred Blake with 11 members present. Mrs. Fred Sharpe had charge of the program. Hillsboro Or den Club S’rimes Mrs. Gilmore President, Mend antes Kenyon, Hofler, Miller, Matheson Also Elected Mrs. George Gilmore was elect ed president of the Hillsfyoro Gar den Club at a meeting held Thurs day at the home of Mrs. James Webb. Mrs. Eldon Matteson is the outgoing presiding officer. Olher officers elected were:" Mrs. Van Keyon,. vice president: Mrs. Thurman Hofler, secretary-treas urer; Mrs. Garland Miller .corre sponding - secretary: Mrs. Don Matheson, custodian. Twenty members of the Garden Club attended the session ito hear a lecture by Tom Rice, local nur seryman and view colored slides of the 1950 Wilmington Azalea Festival. * ~» ■ The speaker discussed camellias and azaleas, the varieties that do well in this locality and how to care0 for them. He also presented a camellia to Mrs. Fred Cates Sr., for correctly identifying the per son who first introduced the flower to this country. Colored slides of the Wilming ton Azalea Festival and a com mentary on the event were pre sented by Lewis Dameron who is practice teaching under the direc tkn of Elmer Dowdy, vocational ' agriculture teacher. Much training and skill were evident in ihc performance of the following folk dances: Pop t Goes the Weasel, The Crested Hen, 1 I See You, Gustav Shoals, and Jolly is The Miller. 1 - -■—£—-0---r— CHURCH BENEFjT SUPPER | The Woman’s Society of Christ ian Service of the Palmer’s Grove Church, will sponsor a supper on Saturday, March 10, beginning at 4 o’clock at the home of -C. T. Qook, Rout? 3, near the church. The menu will consist of ham burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, pies, cakes and soft drinks. Stir in with fork a mixture of 4 tablesp. milk and the wa ter. Turn out on lightly floured board. Knead a few seconds or until smooth. Roll Vi in* thick." Cut into 8 rounds with floured 2Vi-in. cutter. With back of knife press a cross about half way through each round. Place close to gether in greased 8-in. round cake pan. Brush tops with rest of milk. Fill crosses with brown sugar. Bake in very hot oveh (450) 15 min., or un til brown. ■You Will Need: Pet Milk, Biscuit Mix, Cin namon, Seedless Raisins, Brown Sugar.
