The Orange County elementary
teachers held a special meeting in
Central High School Monday,
April 2 at 3515 t*. M., at which
time the teachers were favored
and greatly benefited by hearing
and seeing a demonstration givep
by Mrs. Norma Snipes, supervisor
of Orange County Negro schools.
Mrs. Sfiipes chose the Farm
unit which is one of the most im- j
portant social studies unit of all.
She uniquely demonstrated the
the plans purposed, and evalua
tions or unit of the Farm could
play a vital part in the lives of
the children in our classrooms.

cia”, held its annual convention
at Hillside High School, Durham,
March 31, 1951. Representation
consisted of 110 girts. Theme of
the meting was “Work, Service,
Fun”, for better N. H. A.
One of the highlights of the
meeting was a talk by Liberian
girl, who is attending Williarri
Penn High School, High Point. She
talked in her native (African)
language and was dressed in hex
native attire.

A special meeting of Orange
County Negro Library was held
Sunday afternoon In Mt. Bright
Baptist Church, April 1, under di
rection of Mrs. Douglas Davis,
county librarian.
The Junior choir of Mt. Bright
Church rendered a song to open
the meeting, followed scripture
reading, Rev. Mayner Whitted,
paryer by Rev. Coy Thompson.
Mr. A. L. Stanlback gave brief
remarks relative to the purpose of
the meeting.
Mrs. Davis then discussed the
functions of a public library, and
later .gave a statistical report re
corded for period May 23, 1949 to
July 1st, 1951. ''
The library Fund Drive will
close Sunday, April 22, at 7:30
p. m. ,at the Court House In Hills,
boro.; At this time, about 24
churches will make the final finan
cial report.
