/'C PARSONAGE COMPl The nice brjck parsonage of the Jarrboro Methodist Chwrcb has been completed on OsffirlRreet in Carfboro, and on Wednesday last weejc £he pastor, who is the Rev. J. Paul Edwards, and his wife and family mo veer-from the former parsonage on Main Street into the Jtice new home, expressing their appreciation for the gift of this nice new parsonage.of the church, afl ready, for tjiemjn time for their use at fchristmas, and extending Id all friends and members of the chirch to visit them in their new home. GATHERINGS HEED Many, family gatherings .were held throughout the community here during the Christmas holi days. As in communities through out the" world the most enjoyable ..part of any Christmas holiday is the family homecoming- Families here having the annual get-toge ther included the family of Mr. and' Mrs. J. W. Clark Sr. whose eight .of their ten children were home for Christmas Eve, and fif teen grandchildren including a grandson, Richard Childress, who came from his army duties in Rhode Island. Mrs/ ' Beatrice Andrews was proud- to Have her five children with her at Christmas. Also pre sent were five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. and "Mrs. I. F. Hardee had all eight of their children with them at Christmas, including Mr. and Mrs. Elbert and family who j came from Lake City, Fla. to be j here for the holidays, and the couple's ten grandchildren were with them also. ' SPEND HOLIDAYS HERE „ Mr. and Mrs. Garrett Poole and three children came from fneir home in Houstorrj»%x^s, to spend the Christmas halifiays here with Mrs. Poole's nwther, Mrs. T. N. Mann, and-other relatives in this, section. The family' left on Tues day of this week for Kannapolis 'where they will visit with Mrs. Poole's siSter, Mrs. H. C, Cham pion, Mr. Champion and family be fore returning to Texas. Mrs. Champion is the former Christine Mann. NEW HOME Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Brockwell'a new brick home out on the Hills boro Highway is nearing comple tion near the home of Mr. Brock well’s parents. Mr. apd Mrs. Floyd Brockwell. „ VISITS HERE. Durham Sr. RETURNS HOME—— Mr. Charlie Di^gs, father of Mrs. W. R. Baxter, who has been se riously ill for several weeks as a patient in N. <C. Memorial* Hospi tal, was able to return to his Jiome -near Merritt’s Chapel in Chatham County this' week. i ALL CHILDREN HOME .Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Pendergrass of the Greensboro Highway were most happjr to have all their chil dren home with them for Christ mas this year, for the first timfe in the past six years, because Ro bert Pendergrass has be00 over seas with, the U. S. Army Air Corps. Mrs. Pendergrass was overjoyed on Tuesday of this week to receive a message from her brother, Capt. ‘T H. (Tommy) White, who, with two children, is stationed in Hon olulu,* Kaikiki. Capt. White, for rnerfy of Carrboro has been in ser vice with the Army Infantry fon the past twelve years. Mrs. Pen dergrass; w*ho has been ill at her home, is much improved at this CHURCH MEETINGS An interesting meeting of lead ers in the adult work of the W.M.U. of the Carrboro Baptist Church and leaders of the young people’s W.M.S. \vas held on Tuesday even ing of this week at the home-of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Studebaker. To night at 6:30 the W.M.S. Round Table* o ganization will hold a sup per meeting at the home. of Mr and Mrs. R. B. Todd. The book re viewed at this time will be the book “Stay On Stranger.” Mrs. George N.
