OBSERVE GOLDEN WEDDING—Mr. and Mrs. W. rJ' Andrews of Route One observed their 50th wedding anniversary yesterday afternoon at .the home of their son, J. B. Andrews, in the Antioch Community.-Several hundred persons atterfded the reception and cake-cutting. ' jl W. R. The receiving line for the New Year’s Day celebration was compos- ] ed of members of Mr. and Mrs. Andrews' Wedding at the nearby Antioch Baptist Church on Decern ber 27, 1905. They included Mrs. Cora Andrews of Durham, Mrs. Jessie Neville, Mis. Effie Eubanks, Miss Ella Lloyd, Herbert Brad-* shaw, Julius Andrews, and J. "-y j The church was decorated with wqodwardia fern and palms, white flowers in floor gaskets and white candles in wrought, iron candela bra. White ribbons and flowers marked the family pews. Given in marriage by her father, the1 bride wore a gown of nylop tulle and lace, made with a fitted bodice of lace, high neckline and long fitted sleeves, ending in calla points over the wrists. The full skirt of nylon tulle featured a lace peplum extending ip a full court train. Her veil of silk illusion fell from a cpronet of matching lace I and seed pearl. She carried a white 1 Bible topped with a white orchid .and showered with white ribbons and white roses. She wore white pearl earrings, a gift of the bride t ;— * . Everyone had an enjoyable vacation, some going out of town for a few days. * • * Margaret Wagner visited rela tives in Florida, Joy Carr visited her grandmother in Cherryville, Knox Jones spent Christmas Day in Greensboro, and Garland Spang ler attended a “dance in Charlotte.’ * * * Thursday night the -Beta Club had a party honoring Beta mem- \ bers who have graduated. Several of the college members attended, j and those present enjoyed dancing and talking together since most of them hadn't see each other since school started^ * * > ■ I The Beta Club held its Januarv meeting at Merle Mitchell's home with Cynthia Smith as co-hostess. Sonny Williams also served as host. Nine members were present. Monday, two television sets were placed in our school. During the sixth period, the seventh through the twelfth grades watched the Orange Bowl game. J --— , .
