is published here t
For the first time the complete
text of a, novelette written by the
wife of one of the world’s fore
most poets has been printed,
along with the original rough
draft of the story.
“Mathilda,” by Mary Wollstone

ed by the University Press, re
leased last Saturday.
Edited by Dr. Elizabeth Nitchie,
professor emeritus of English at
Goucher College, the volume also
includes the opening pages of the
rough draft, “The Fields of Fan
cy,” as the novelette was original
ly to be titled.
'Singh' equals 'Smith'
says Indian visitor
“Singh” is a rather uncommon
name in North Carolina. But in
India it is something like Jones
and Smith. “Every other taxi
driver in India is named Singh,”
said Dr. Jaipan Singh, a member
of the Indian Parliament who
was a vistor in Chapel Hill last
week. He lectured to classes in
political science. .

State football game and was re
minded of his own days at Ox
ford University in England. “I
Was a member of the Oxford
Blues,” he said.
He headed a field hockey team
which won at the Olympics of
1928.

Mrs. Eva Roger presided. TJhe
group sang “He’s Got the Whole
World in His Hands,” after which
they repeated together the Club
Collect.
Minutes of the last meeting j
were read and approved as was
the treasurer’s report.
The demonstration, “Better;
Lighting in the Home For Better
Vision,”’ was given by Mrs. B. B.
Davis, Home Agent. After this in
formative demonstration, every
one agreed that it was wise to in
vest in better lighting.
