of Raleigh.
Mrs. Latta has been making
her home at the Yancey Nursing
Home in Hillsboro for two years.
She can sew without glasses and
is able to attend church each
week.

to Lewis Tilley of Hillsboro

Gilliam, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
John A. Gilliam Jr. of Burling
ton, and William Thomas Tilley,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis T.
Tilley of Hillsboro, was solemn
ized Sunday, Nov. 29 at E1 o n.

I uncle of the bride and Mrs. Jim

The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore a gown of heavy
candlelight satin, featuring an in
set yoke of imported lace, framed
by scallops of lace. She carried a
cascade bouquet of white pompon
chrysanthemums centered with a
purple-throated white orchid.
The bride's sister, Mrs. T. J5,
Zeller of Raleigh, was matron of
honor.

da Tilley of Hillsboro, sisters of

Following the ceremony a re
ception was given in the parlor
of West Dormitory on the Elon
College campus. Later the couple
left for a wedding trip to the
mountains of North Carolina.
Mrs. Tilley was graduated from
Kenbridge High School in Ken
bridge, Va. She attended Elon Col
lege for two years and is now em
ployed by Western Electric Co. as
a stenographer.
Mr. Tilley is a graduate of Hills
boro High School. He is employed
at Western Electric Co. while at
tending Elon College night school.
CHRISTMAS CLOSING
The Patterson Kindergarten
will close for the Christinas holi
days on Tuesday, December 15.

Sue Hawkins will give a party
in honor of the sixth birthday

Christmas cantata
The Chancel Choir of the Hills
boro Presbyterian Church will pre
sent a Christmas Cantata, “The
Music of Christmas,” this Sunday
afternoon at 5 o’clock at the Pres
byterian Church.
This traditional candlelight serv
ice, concludes with the congrega
tion participating in a candlelight
ing ceremony.
The cantata text and music is
the work of Ira B. Wilson and in
dudes much of the traditional
melody of the season. Mrs. C. D.
Jones win direct the choir with
accompaniment at the organ by
Peter Ford of Chapel Hill.
