Gilliam Jr. of Burling ton, and William Thomas Tilley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis T. Tilley of Hillsboro, was solemn ized Sunday, Nov. 29 at E1 o n. ; College, organist, Odell Gilliam, I uncle of the bride and Mrs. Jim my Sparks of Graham, soloists. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of heavy candlelight satin, featuring an in set yoke of imported lace, framed by scallops of lace. She carried a cascade bouquet of white pompon chrysanthemums centered with a purple-throated white orchid. The bride's sister, Mrs. T. J5, Zeller of Raleigh, was matron of honor. Misses Annette Tilley and Bren da Tilley of Hillsboro, sisters of Hie bridegroom were bridesmaids and junior bridesmaids were Misses Erica Jean Dye of Cary: and Cynthia Ann Troxler of Ra-! leigh, cousins of the bride. Flower ! girls were Sheila Huffman, and Rosa Troxler, cousins of the foride. Mr. l'utey was his son s t>est man and ushers were Felix Mil ler, David Huffman, uncle of the bride, John O’Brian, all of Bur lington and James Jobe of Julian. Following the ceremony a re ception was given in the parlor of West Dormitory on the Elon College campus. Later the couple left for a wedding trip to the mountains of North Carolina. Mrs. Tilley was graduated from Kenbridge High School in Ken bridge, Va. She attended Elon Col lege for two years and is now em ployed by Western Electric Co. as a stenographer. Mr. Tilley is a graduate of Hills boro High School. He is employed at Western Electric Co. while at tending Elon College night school. CHRISTMAS CLOSING The Patterson Kindergarten will close for the Christinas holi days on Tuesday, December 15. On this same day, Mrs. Betty Sue Hawkins will give a party in honor of the sixth birthday of her son^ Mike. Christmas cantata The Chancel Choir of the Hills boro Presbyterian Church will pre sent a Christmas Cantata, “The Music of Christmas,” this Sunday afternoon at 5 o’clock at the Pres byterian Church. This traditional candlelight serv ice, concludes with the congrega tion participating in a candlelight ing ceremony. The cantata text and music is the work of Ira B. Wilson and in dudes much of the traditional melody of the season. Mrs. C. D. Jones win direct the choir with accompaniment at the organ by Peter Ford of Chapel Hill. Members of the choir are Mcs dames C. S. Cates, F. S. Cates, Jr., R. D. Copeland, J. W. Dick son, C. F. Floyd, 8 G. Johnston, R. J. Smith, Jr., T. P. Smith, and Miss Ann Clayton. Messieurs D. H. Baird, S. Green, C. D. Jones, and Dupre Jones. HOME Mr. and Mrs. E_. W. Austin re turned to their home in the Schley community last week after both being patients in a hospital in Tenn. for Surgery. GUESTS Guests Of Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie S. Hastings of Hwy 70A E. over the past holidays were Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Mast and son, Jimmy, of Hickory. Mrs. Mast and son left Monday of last week? LEAVE Mr. and Mrs. Cal Cromer left for Phtla. Tuesday. They are plan ning to return over the weekend. CONFINED Eddie Hines of the Orange Grove Road is improving after being confined with pneumonia.
