This became apparent upon ap
proval of formal resolutions by
the Chapel Hill aldermen au
thorizing the issue, which would
finance sewer, street, and curb
find gutter improvements as well
as an addition to the Town Hall
While the actual date of the
election has not yet been set,
Mayor O. K. Cornwell told the
Board that the time until March
1' would be necessary for final
'approval from the Local Govern
ineat Commission in Raleigh and
for registration of new voters.
Two ' annexation hearings set
The aldermen also agreed to
hold a public hearing on annexa
tion of the Estes Hills Schol area
at the time of their second regu
lar meeting this month, Jan. 26.
A similar hearing has already
been scheduled then on the an
nexation of the 42-acre North
fiide School neighborhood.
Tho Estos Hills area involves
k—- 99 acres in all — 35 in the
school grounds ond the rest in
the Estes Hills subdivision.
Following these public gearings
the aldermen will have au
thority, in the absence of ob
jections from property owners,
to annox these territories.
Among other matters of busi
ness the Board heard from Town
Attorney J. Q. LcGrand that an
action brought by George Doak
against the Town contesting the
curbing assessment for old Mill
Rd„ had been docketed for next
week's session of Superior Court.

Division of Health Affairs and as
sistant chairman of this past year’s
successful drive for $31,413 to sup
port eight local agencies. A final
accounting for last fall’s campaign
has shown it raised $32,600, ac
cording to Chest Secretary Mrs
T. B. Winborne.
At a meeting of the steering
committee a deadline of June 1 i
was set for the turning in of the1
report of the Chest Budget Com
mittee, which will recommend a
goal for the drive.
Members of the steering com
mittee, in addition to all those
mentioned above, are Dr. Syd
Alexander President of the spon
soring Community Council; Dr. J.
Kempton Jones, chairman of last
fall's Chest drive; W. E. Thomp
son, Chairman of the new Budget
Committee; Orville Campbell, a
past Chairman of the Chest; and
George Coxhead, last year’s Bud
get Committee Chairman.
