PREPARE FOR FALL SEEDING OF PASTURE NOW Prepare your seedbed for fall seeding of pasture as soon you can. A seedbed that has been prepared and let settle or finned by a good rain usually produces a better' stand of grass and clover. The best date for leeding in the Piedmont is between Aug. 25 and Sept. 1. Certified Potom ac or Virginia grown orchard grass at 4he rate of 10 to 12 lbs. per acre has been most pro ductive in the experimental plots. If you plan to use tall fescue, use certified-Kentucky 31 or Alta at the rate of 8 to 10 lbs. per acre. Both of these grasses should be sows with certified West Coast Indian clover at the cate of two to four Has. per acre. Youth activities week planned in Hillsboro The young people from the HnUnro Methodist Church and the Hillsboro Presbyterian Church ere jointly planning their annual Youth Activities Week to be held during the week of July 31 — Aug. 5. Three sessions will be held at each of the churches, meeting at the Methodist Church on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings, and at the Presbyterian Church cn Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings. Young people from the ages of | 12 to 21 are urged to attend and ; participate in this program of worship, study, and action. There ! will be three discussion groups to | facilitate discussion and under [ standing. There will be an Intermediate I group, ages 12-15, discussing the 4cpiC 'Christian Beliefs;” a sen ior group, ages 16-18, discussing the topic ”1 Believe”; and an Older Youth group, ages mi, with the tpoic “Come and See.” All three topics will be related to the overall theme of the week, . County Four-H'ers seeking state awards State Four-H winners in Dem onstrations and Activities to be decided this week at the An nual Four-H dob Week held at State College ioJlaleigh. Orange County Four-H'ers who are competing for1 state honors are Cynthia Walker, daughter of Mjs. Harry Walker Route Two, Durham, who is competing in the State Dress Revue and sponsored by Be&Leggett-Hprtcn. Chapel Hill; Faye Dickey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Dickey, Route Two, ffillsboro; and Kenneth Walk er, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Walker, Route One, Hillsboro, each seeking the title of State Health Queen and King. Kenneth mid Faye are sponsored by Orange Farm Equipment, Co., “Christ Above All.” The daily program will be as fallows: 6:30-7 Supper; 7-7:15 Fellowship Sing; 7:15-7:45 Wor ship; 7:45-8:30 Discussion; 8:30 9 Recreatica. Dinner will be served on the ground, and there will be ! morning and evening worship services at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The Rev. R. E. Scarteit will preach in the morning and the Rev. Robert Gray will speak in the afternoon. The revival will be gin at this time, going through the following week. The Rev.
