PHILLIPS 66 OIL COMPANY, Kenan Oil Company of Durham the franchiser in this area, ntbved into the Hillsboro scene this week with the reported purchase of two local oil dis tributorships. Phillips is a big operator in nearby Durham and Chapel Hill but heretofore had not had representation in the Hillsboro sector. A. J. Snipes Jr. confirmed that his company, an Esso distributor, had been bought by Kenan and that a large active installation would be established at his location on Highway 70 with him as distributor. Frank Walker, Cities Service dealer, de nied that a sale for his company had taken place yet but indicated there might be a switch of brands soon. Meanwhile, rumors persist that both companies will even tually be a part of the Kenan operation. Service stations served by the two companies are ex pected to be switched to the Phil' lips 66 brand.
