But they, say they haven’t been contacted, about the federal avia tion agency’s plan to carry out extensive improvements at the Chapel Hill Airport ' under the terms of a $1.1 billion five-year nationwide airport construction program. Within this program 40 airports in N. C- would be im proved and IS new ones built. Unless the government does such a job, UNC admits, there’s little chance of the airport being im proved. TWO UNIVERSITY STUDENTS, Sterling Harris and Taylor Gil more, were fined a whopping $250 and costs in Chapel Hill Recorder’s Court Tuesday by As sistant Recorder R. B. Midgette after pleading guilty to simple trespass. They were charged with entering Mrs. Kathleen Whitt’s home one night recently in her absence and v refusing to leave when she returned. The attorney for the . defense said his clients’ car was stuck in a ditch in front of the house and they merely en tered the unlocked dwelling to make a ‘phone call for help. A QUANTITY OF MAIL WAS lost after, leaving the Chapel Hill postoffice, as .noted in this cohintn last week. But it was actually a pouch of less than 10 pounds, in stead of 200 pounds, and it hap pened on the snowy night of Feb. 3 instead of last month, as erroneously stated Postal author hies said they’d received ~ only one complaint of person who ac tually lost mail in the missing pouch. Either one’ll get you and your family in easily, SEVEN MEMBERS OF THE Chapel Hill Civil Air Patrol par* ticipated in a search last week end for a plane with two men aboard which disappeared after leaving White Plains, N. Y., Sun day a week ago for Guatemala. Joe Augustine, commander of the squadron, said his group searched by plane a 20-mile-wide path from Raleigh to the Virginia state line, and also a line from Ra leigh to Albemarle. Neither the plane nor the men has been found yet, he said. THE CHAPEL HILL - CARR boro Credit Bureau received the Achievement Award - for, best collections" during the past year 'at the Southern Credit Conference meeting held in Columbia, S. C., Tuesday and Wednesday. It’s the second consecutive year that the leeal Bureau has won the Award.
