That was the di lemma of the Chapel .Hill Fire Department in extinguishing a chemical blaze in the UNC Chem istry Department last Thursday morning. One person was slight-, ly injured in the explosion that touched off a fire in a labora tory, Firemen, working in coop eration' with the chemistry fac ulty, had to get rid of the blaze by cutting out a burning cabinet area and carting it outside, A largo supply of water (distilled variety for lab use) was in the room, but water would’ve only provided more oxygen for the blaze in this case. CHAPEfc- HILL'S TOWN; has heeded an appeal from Miss i Mary Gilson to try to legalize I her age-old battle to annihilate all squirreldom. Informed that her BB gun assaults on the bushy tailed rodents were illegal she asked revision of a local ordi nance to permit the air rifles to be used by persons over 21. “—And I’m certainly over zi, she told the aldermen in seeking relief. The Town Attorney was asked to examine the ordinance and make a recommendation. Orange members of the Democratic So licitorial District Committee, MrsI Gerald Barrett and Ed Hamlin, haven’t been consulted. THE TRIAL OF EDWARD OP ton, 25*year-old Duke student charged with trespass in the Ne gro section of the Chapel Hill Bus Station Grill, has been con tinued until July 11 in the Chap el ffill Recorder’s Court. No court was held this week because of the civil term of Superior Court in Hillsboro, and next Tuesday, July 4, will be a legal holiday.
