Try the emergency brake If that fails to hold, rev the engine and shift into net lower gear, and let the engine-drag slow you down. Rev the engine again and shift into low or low-drive range for maimum deceleration and a controlled stop. Traffic authorities say emer gencies like those described are more common than most people think.“Many drivers .and passengers are killed and in jured each year in unforeseen incidents they don't know how to meet.
