A PROGRAM FLYER WITH A pretty gal’s photo on the cover side announces that soprano Eth el Casey - will give her second New York recital on Sunday eve ning, Oct- It Carnegie Hall. Mrs. Casey, who "is from .Raleigh, was well-known to local theatre audiences in recent years, par ticularly for her part in the Play makers’ presentation of “Carou sel.” She was a voice pupil o' Walter Golde’s in Chapel Hill last year, and made her singing debut in New York’s Town Hall last season. WHATEVER QUESTION MAY be raised concerning the parking ticket situation in Chapel Hill (story on Page 12, this issue), ; cannot be said that the depart ment is not doing an un-common ly efficient job! The official re port for the month of August shows that traffic ticket collec tions exceeded the number of - tickets issued by over $1,000. To tal number of autos tagged for traffic violations: 2,229 at $1 each Total -collected during the month, likewise at $1 per ticket: $3,431. (How about that for a public P and L statement?!!) COUNTY SUPERINTENDENT of Public Schools Paul Carr and Mrs. Carr sustained minor injur ies last Friday night when their auto was rammed from the rear as they were driving out of Ra leigh on U. S. Highway 70, bound to see Mr. Carr’s mother who lives down east. Their vehicle was knocked down an embank ment, causing about $580 dam age. The offending driver was charged with careless and reck less driving by investigating of ficers. Circulation Today Lady - in - waiting becomes a queen... FROM RUNNER-UP TO ROYALTY—Susan Kay Woodall, the newly-designated Miss North Carolina, began her climb to the state beauty title as first runner-up for the crown of Miss Chapel Hill while a UN C coed entrant in the local competition last spring. While Mary Ann Henderson won <the Chapel Hill pageant, Susan went on to later win her hometown pageant in Roanoke Rapids, then capture first runner-up honors in the state eliminations to Miss America—Maria Beale Fletcher of Asheville.
