By overwhelming 293 to 7 . . . ahead Voters Hillsboro’s town adminis tration, in the wake,of an overwhelming 2t)3 to seven approval of a bond issue for sewer improvements on Tuesday, yesterday male plans for proceeding with its program. After canvassing the elec tion returns which saw 300 of its 540 registered voters . turnout, the Board met with Engineer Tom Rose and author ized him to proceed wih plans . for the project. It is now de pendent for completion on ap proval of an application for addi tional federal funds in the amount of $40,000. Mayor Fred Claytor expressed the Town Board’s general elation over the election results. “It is extremely gratifying, both as to the large turnout and the favor able vote. It illustrates definitely our Town’s interest in these municipal improvements. Two things are in the offing immediately to improve the Town’s position on the list cf; applicants for federal funds. Mr. (Rose, will file copies of the elec-1 tion results in Raleigh which i automatically grant the town an additional 15 points toward .the necessary * points required in the priority system. And Coh George Levings, town ^ attorney, twill proceed to obtain rights-of-way Wljiih.—will bring additional priority points. There are 40 North Carolina towns on the applicant list for federal funds which come to the state, according to the Mayor. According to Claytor, the Town may proceed immediately to in stall the additional sewer lines to enable every residence to tap on, even if there is a delay in j the federal gran;. This will in crease the Town indebtedness and provide additional points to push the Town higher on the priority list, thi s speeding up.the federal grant to enable* comple tion of the sewer disposal plant.
