Hillsboro commencement plans announced The baccalaureate sermon this Sunday evening is the opening frven': of the 1962 commencement program at Hillsboro High School. Graduating exercises for 104 seniors are scheduled for Fri day evening of next week. This will follow, class night the pre vious evening. All programs are at « p. m. Baccalaureate speaker will be the Rev. Robert Wallace olf the Efland Methodist Church. Members of the ' Senior Class are the. participants in the Thurs day evening Class Night pro gram, when Awards, Medals and Scholarships will be given out. Principal speakers for the Graduation program, following the procedure inaugurated last Hillsboro B.P.W. Club installs new officers On Wednesday evening, at the Colonial Inn, the Hillsboro B. P. W. Club began its fiscal year with the installation of new of - ficers. “Those installed were President, Mrs. Robert Cdpeland; Vice-Pres ident, Mrs. Robert Haas; Secre tary, Miss Mary B. Forrest;.Treas _urer, Mrs. Bill Richmond. These officers were installed by Mrs. Mabel Gordon, a charetr member of the club. The club members gave a ris ing vote of thanks to its outgo ing President, Mrs. Louise Clay ton. MR MRS. ROBERT COPELAND Exchange Club essay contest winners noted Hal Patterson of the Sixth Grade and Frank Duncan of the Fifth Grade have been judged first place winners in att essay congest sponsored at Cameron Park School by the Hillsboro Ex change Club. Rules specified the themes should be written in- the class room on topics of the childrens’ own choosing, and that they should be original and fictitious. : $15 in prizes were distributed to first, second and third place winners in each grade and the winning papers were read in the classrooms and at the school as sembly. i Second .and third placed winners respectively in Grade 6 were Bill Ward and Karl Cates; in Grade 3, Faye Walls and Kay Parsons. Rogers j district winner in bus driving ■William Larry ‘Rogers, 18, of Route Three, Mebane, won the District School Bus Rode© at Wil son, May 19. Son of Mrs. Blanche S. Rog ers and the late Linwood Rog ers, he represented Aycock High School and Orange County. His score was 395 out of a possible 425. Active in - church,, class, FFA Beta Club and the Student Coun cil, he also plays basketball and baseball. He plans6 to attend N, C. State, majoring in Civil En gineering.
