Highway 70 one mile from the center of Hillsboro. When a gymnasium is in the future added to the build ing in the left foreground the county’s total investment in the plant will be $1 million. The school is expected to be ready for occupancy next fall. Of ficers estimated there were 10, .000 viewers along the two-mile route. None could fail to be in fected by,the martial airs of the bands, combined with the novelty of the Yuletide decorations and! the “Merry Christmas” from Santa Claus himself. Top award of $100 in the judging went to that fancy-stepping Northern High School Band from Durham County. The Southern, High Band .—the one replete with corps of twirlers — took the $50 second place. And a $25 award went to the Beta Sigma Phi non-college sorority for its sprightly snow, man building float. Chapel Hill’s Tax Collector found this out j quickly after sending out 3,506 j tax bills this month.
