W. MacLamroc of Greensboro to meet with them Dec. 10 in an attempt to finally nail down the local thorough fare plan. The aldermen on Monday re ceived from, the Carrboro Town Board their revised version of the plan, approved it and forwarded it to the State Highway Commis sion in Raleigh. The Carrboro Board made only minor changes in the 32-project long^ange plan. One involved the addition of a road link, be tween Pleasant Drive and North Greensboro St. Two; others set up Carrboro aaea* projects on at higher paiimty. “ Endorsed fully - The Chapel Hill Board endor sed the total plan as returned to it by Carrboro. But Board members expressed concern that some, highway improvements pro jects’^ the local area^were be ing planned and even carried out through Commissioner Mac Lamroc’s office without being coordinated in the thoroughfare plan. For this reason they asked that the meeting bo. set up with Him on Dec. 10. The Carrboro Board and the District Plan ning Board wilt also be in vited to this meeting. Finally approved a formal Lions benefit sale to be held this Friday The Hillsboro Lions Club will conduct its broom and elect ric bulb sale, Friday (Nov. 30) from 4 to 9 p. m. A house to house canvass will be made by the members of the Lions Club. Chairman of the sale, Lion F. E. Joyner, will be assisted fay captains Fred Cates, H. W. Moore, Sam Gattis, Carlton McKee, George. Levings and Sheriff “Buck” Knight. The en tire Lions Club will work with the above captains in promot ing this sale. . Brooms, ironing board cov ers, and specially packaged light bulbs will be featured during the sale. Proceeds will go to the Lions Club “better sight program.’* “Turn your front porch light on Friday night and make a purchase from the visiting Li on,” appealed Chairman Joyn resolution whereby the Chapel Hill Housing Authority would pay 10 per cent of the residen tial rents it receives to the town in lieu, of property taxes. Heard from Town Manager Bob Peck that, the recent reduc tion by the State of the tax as sessment on the Gleh Lennox properties in Chapel Hill would cost the town about $5,000 an nually at the present tax rate; that the town would have to re fund about $2,500 to owner Wil liam Muirhead for taxes paid last year; and that this would leave Glen Lennox with a tax bill of about $25,000 a year on the existing rate.
