for O'Berry institution

Hubert S. Robinson, member
of the Advisory Board of the
O’Berry School in Goldsboro, has
^>pealed to Orange County citi
zens. for money and gifts to he
used for the benefit of the men
tally retarded children and adult
patients in this State institution.
Cash donations should be made
out to the “O’Berry School.”
They will be placed in the Con
tributors Trust Fund, he said,
and used to provide entertain
ment for children there. Mr.
Robinson said that good cloth
ing in any size can be used, as
well as used recreational sup
plies and gifts such as TV sets,
radios, record players, toys, pic
ture books, toilet articles, foor
balls, puzzles, and tricycles.
He asked that donors call him
at 968-5481 Chapel Hill so that
he .could call for. these, or else
leave them at the Chapel Hill
Funeral Home. He plans to take
these items to the School on Dec.
21.
At the present time, Mr. Rob
inson said, there are 850 per
sons in this institution—an in
crease of 150 over last year. New
admissions are coming in at the
rate of one a day. In a year
the newly-expanded capacity of
1,200 beds is expected to be
reached.

be held at 6:30 p.m. today (Thurs
day) in Colonial Inn at Hillsboro.

Phipps said the primary order
of business would be election of
an interim member of the Coun
ty Board of Education, to suc
ceed Gordon Cleveland. Mr.
Cleveland, whose term will ex
pire next April 1, recently re
signed to become a county com
missioner as of next Monday,
Dec. 3. John Efland of Efland
was nominated to the education
board in the Democratic party
preferential primary last spring,
and will undoubtedly be appoint
ed to this post -next winter by
the General Assembly. —
