Current national champion Joe Weatherly, who bolds both the Hillsboro records for speed which will bo at stake here Sua day, is the top man in the Pod tiac pack. Weatherly, of Norfolk, Va., set the track’s one-lap qual ifying record of 96.25 miles per hour at the race last March. His 150-mile record of 86.11 has stood since October of 1961. Toastmasters choose officers; will host area speech contest Bob Rauch has been elected President of the Chapel Hill Toastmasters Club in the semi annual elections held at the group’s meeting last Saturday. Mr. Rauch, a Vice-President of Morgan Motors in ©Wham but a resident of Chapel Hill, is cur rently .the Administrative Vice President of the group. He and _other new officers -will be in stalled shortly at a ladies night banuqet and wiH assume their duties thereafter. Mr. Rauch will succeed Charlie Warren as Pres ident. The officers were chosen af ter spirited campaigning, follow ing presentation of a slate of two candidates for; each office and additional nominations from the floor. Each candidate spoke briefly in his own ibehalf. Other newly - elected officers are: Administrative Vice-Presi dent Peter Johnston, Education al Vice - President Fred Dorr, Secretary Byron Hipps, Treaa urer Jim MackoreH, and Serge ant-at-Arms Clifton Crandell. The Chapel Hill Club will be hosi to the area speech contest, to be held in the -Carolina Inn on Saturday afternoon, March 23.
