Chapel Hill is given
urgently-needed time;
how will it use it?
As a result of sincere gestures of good faith by all
parties directly concerned Chapel Hill now has an op
portunity to resolve its problems of human relations in
a mature and exemplary manner.
The atmosphere of threats and confrontation has
for the moment been removed. The entire community
•has been asked, quite appropriately, to move into die
arena that was formerly occupied only by adversaries,
and to make an opportunity of a problem.
' Chapel Hill needed time, and it now has it. But
the real crisis, and the proof of Ohaptel Hill’s good will,
will be shown in what it does with this time. The in
justices that have existed, the bad feelings that 'have
