STATE REVENUE COMMIS sioner William Johnson, newly appointed superior court judge to succeed the late Clawson Wii liams, was in Hillsborough late yesterday to. confer with, his col league-to-be Judge Raymond Mat lard. Mr. Johnson, a native of Harnett County, is, by the way, a nephew of Paul Green of Cha " pel Hill. r..' " THE PREVIOUSLY - STRICT ‘enforcement of the ban on talk ing, eating, reading, etc., in Judge Raymond Mallard’s Superi or courtroom at Hillsborough has been slightly relaxed this week as the un-contested cases were put before the bench. But woe betide the citizen in the court room who may feel that the Judge has in fact forgotten about the rules he ordered posted on the courtroom door. From his vantage point on the bench the Judge sees much that he does not immediately comment upon, but files in his memory for con venient recollection at an appro priate later date. Cl I D T LIE BBaA Vl BklTMlPI l r-11 A it HI rights cases, trials have been held before Juvenile Court Judge Edwin Lynch to date for six juvenile defendants arrested in the Chapel Hill demonstrations. All were un-contested cases and all were placed on probation. WHEN TWO MEN CAME IN ta his Xhapel Hill service station to rob him on Monday night proprietor Eben Merritt said he didn’t catch on at first. He said he grabbed the man’s wrist, push ed the pistol away from him. “I had the gun pointing west, away from me. I held it there for about ; .10 seconds, and then I noticed the little fella. He said ‘This is a real robbery.’ I said ‘Pardon me, I didn’t know it was real’ After firing a shot into the coun ter to prove how real it all was the men grabbed about $150 from the cash register and fled. As of yesterday they had not been caught. KEMP NYE, OWNER OF CHEZ Kemp in Chapel Hill, said he was putting bars across the back windows of his shop in an at tempt to prevent any future rob beries. Burglars broke into his place Sunday night and took an estimated $16,000 worth of orien tal jade and . ivory- objects of art and classical music records. \ Young mans fancy... SUSAN SEES THE SEASON-One of Chapel Hill Senior High School’s gifts to the young man’s fancy is Susan Alexander, a senior student and Sweetheart Queen at the School this year.
