Registration to close Saturday; 13,724 on books at beginning The registration period for new voters will close in ell of Orange County's 25 precincts as of sundown (7:15 p.m.) this Sat urday. . - . , County Board of'Elections Secretary James N. Prothro of Cha pel Hill sard that brisk registration had been reported to date in some precincts-—including a number of voters switching party affiliations—-but'that ito figures were available. Registrars will be in the precinct polling places from 9 a.m. till the sundown closing hour on Saturday to accept registrations. The books will not be re-opened for registration prior to any second primary, the elections official pointed out.
