Registration to close Saturday;
13,724 on books at beginning
The registration period for new voters will close in ell of
Orange County's 25 precincts as of sundown (7:15 p.m.) this Sat
urday. . - . ,
County Board of'Elections Secretary James N. Prothro of Cha
pel Hill sard that brisk registration had been reported to date in
some precincts-—including a number of voters switching party
affiliations—-but'that ito figures were available.
Registrars will be in the precinct polling places from 9 a.m.
till the sundown closing hour on Saturday to accept registrations.
The books will not be re-opened for registration prior to any
second primary, the elections official pointed out.
Of the 13,724 voters shown on the County's voting books when
the new registration period began on May 2, the break-down by
parties in the seven townships is as follows:

The visit will, begin at 8:30
a.m. at the Carrboro Town Hall.
From there he will walk east
through town to the Chapel Hill"
Post Office. He plans to stop at
his headquarters on West Frank-!

spend an hour informally meet
ing and talking with visitors
there. All interested visitors are
invited.
