Concerned Citizens set
visit to Washington
The Committee of Concerned
Citiens announced Saturday it
will sponsor a visit to Washing
! ton June 1 by a statewide delega
tion of Tar Heeds in support of
the civil rights bill.
Dr. Joseph Straley, chairman of
the group and a physics profes
sor at the University of North
Carolina, said the visit also is to
“prepare plans for peaceful com
pliance after the bill has been
enacted.”
He added. “We have every faith
that a strong bilk will be enacted.
We feel that responsible citizens
will regard it as important to as
sist in the establishment of a cli
mate for. peaceful compliance.”

Cindy Culbreth, daughter of

Carolina College gifted child
classes this summer. Cindy at-*
tended the school last summer,
having been selected as one of
the 60 highest nominees from
the fifth grades throughout the
state. She was chosen from the
fifth grade dess at Cameron
Park School, and has been in
vited back this year as a mem
ber of the gifted sixth grade
class. Cindy is now in Mrs.
Mary Dodson's class at Orange
