C October 6 1904 LOCALS AND PERSONALS Items of Interest to All Readers. Mr. W. G. Newell was a Concord visitor today. Mr. F. A. Kluttz, of Flows, wu the city today. A small shower fell this morning, the first for many weeks. Quite a number of. young peopl will go out for a 'possum hunt tonight The front of Mr. W. C. Correll'! jewelry store is being treated to a new coat of paint. Miss Mary Foil, of Charlotte, is visiting her cousins, Misses Mary and Alice Foil, on Church street. The ice wagons will not run on Sunday any more. See A. B. Pounds' notice in the penny column. There will be a meeting of the Daughters of the Confederacy tomor row afternoon at 4 o'clock at Pythian hall. "Rain tonight, colder in northwest ern portion; Friday rain with colder in southern portion," says the weather report. The Virginia Dare Book Club held their first meeting of the season with Mrs. P. M Misenheimer, at her home in No. 5 township this afternoon. Mrs. Culp, who has been spending sometime with her daughter, Mrs. T. J. White, left this morning for Rock Hill, accompanied by Mrs. White, who will remain for some time with her parents. There were about thirty-five bales of cotton from Mecklenburg sold on the Concord market today. One man brought nine bales? The Char lotte market is 9.50 while Concord is pay ing 9.75. A number of people in the eastern part of the city graze their cows on the Three Mile Branch. Some mis creant has been milking the cows in the afternoons and robbing the people of their milk. Some one on yesterday also stole the rope from one of the cows. Mr. L. T. Hartsell, Chairmait of the Democratic Committee for Cabar rus, has received notice of the cancel lation of the dates in the county of Mr. R. N. Hackett next week on ac count of illness. Mr. Hackett will no doubt get to the county later in the campaign. On Sept. 10th, Miss Glenn Brachen lost her watch between Sqnire Hill's and Miss Nannie Alexander's. She had not heard anything from it until yesterday when it was given to Mr. J. W. Collett, the watch repairer, to re pair. He had been furnished a des cription of the watch and knew it The gentleman who brought the watch to Mr. Collett said his wife had pur chased it from a man for $5.00. The registration books opened today and every Democrat should see that his name is on, so there will be no trouble. Messrs. Ed. F. Correll and Harry Swink returned yesterday from Salis bury where they have been doing some painting. The offices of the Cannon Mami" facturing Co. will be moved into the new building at the mill as soon as completed. Mr. John C. Leslie was on the street today greeting his friends. Mr. Leslie has but recently recovered from an attack of appendicitis. Mr. C. F. Walter went to China Grove this morning, where he is bill ing that town for the appearance of the Stereoptican and Museum Co. Miss Julia Gray, who has been spending the summer here with her uncle, Mr. W. G. Boshamer, returned to her home in Charlotte this after noon. Mersrs. L. T. Hartsell and W. A. Foil went to Mt. Pleasant this after noon to confer with the committee in that town in regard to the reception of Gov. AycocL Mrs. M. L. Brown went to Salis bury this morning to attend a reception given by Mrs. F. F. Smith in honor of Miss Ohla Brown who is the guest of Mrs. Smith. Master Harry Dove, the young son of Mrs. Robert Dove, fell from a buggy yesterday and was bruised up considerably. There were no bones broken and he will soon be out. Attention is called to the advertise ment of A. B. Graven, the proprietor of the 5 and 10 cent store. The store opens on Saturday and has something free for purchasers on that day. At a meeting of the Council of St James Lutheran church last night Rev. Hiller tendered his resignation to take effect Nov. 1st The resignation was accepted with the regrets of the council. Mr. Lock Harris is suffering from several pretty severe bruises caused by a cow, ne Dad just purcnascd the cow and had her at his home when she became enraged and knocked him about considerably.
