Mrs. Pansy Koontz, president
of the Auxiliary, introduced
Betty Gordon, president of the
11th District Auxiliary, who
gave a few brief remarks.
Lester Martin, Jr., traced the
history of the American flag
and discussed what it would
mean to the school.
Mr. Swicegood and Mrs.
Koontz presented the flag to
Mackie Deadmon, president of
the senior class, who accepted
on behalf of the school. The flag
was then raised to flying posi
tion while the high school band
played the national anthem
Mackie Deadmon led the group
in giving the pledge to the flag.

son of the Bixby Community,

more M. Robertson, died at
8 :40 a. m. Sunday at her bme.
She had been in failing health
for four years, and seriously
ill two months.
She was a daughter of B. J.
and Lillie Jones Savage of Ger
manton. She was married to
Mr. Robertson on Nov. 19, 1947
Mrs. Robertson was a mem
ber of Bixby Presbyterian
Church.
Surviving are the husband;
a sister, Mrs. Harold Wilson
of Germanton; three, brothers
J. Hyde Savage of Winston
Salem, Route 2 and B. J. and G.
K. Savage of Germanton.
Funeral services were con
ducted at 2:30 p. m. Monday
at the Bixby Presbyterian
Church by the Rev. Paul Rich
ards. Burial was in the church
cemetery.

and from rheumatic fever, and endorsed the Heart Fund Drive,

urday morning at the Davie
County Hospital after a serious
illness of one day. He had been
in declining health for some
time.
Mr. Groce was born in Yad
kin County, Sept. 2, 1878, the
son of Newton and Sara Warr
en Groce. He was married to
Sally Smith .He was a mem
ber of the Macedonia Morav
ian Church.
Survivors are his wife: a
brother, the Rev. James Groce
