She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Wagner of Cooleemee. By—(Photo & Gift Shop) Queen Crowned At Half Time During Homecoming Victory The Davie Hi Rebels went bird hunting Friday night and came home with the whole covey. The Rebels kept to their winning ways that ran their string of victories to five straight. It didn't take but a few minutes to let the peo ple know that the Falcons were in for a long night. West Rowan received the kick-off and after three running plays they punted to David Robert son on his own thirty-five yard line who faked a hand off to Randall Ward and be hind deadly blocking proceed ed to scamper for sixty-five yards for the first of many scores. Earl Shoaf kicked the extra point and the Rebels led 7-0. Davie promptly came back to score after line-backer Ed gar Osborn plucked a Falcon pass out of the air and Shoaf tossed to Donald Beck for f the second score. Davie Kicked off for the third time and after West had to kick. Earl Shoaf tossed a twenty five yard pass to Ronnie Foster who made ■ brillant one hand catch and out-ran the defense for the tfaichdown. Randall Ward car ried the ball for one yard and another TD after the alert Da vie defense had intercepted i another pass attempt. Davie "fed 28-0 at the end of the first quarter. Jack Keller made sure that Davie kept up their scoring ways by breaking through his gufUjA position and blocking ari attempted punt and then rtcofiring the ball in the end zone for the fifth Rebel score. Randall Ward got into the ■coring again by taking a West 'y punt «nd again behind the blodtftg of the Rebel team rambled 80 yards for the score. Not to be outdone by his team mate David Robertson on the next punt took the ball and raced 35 yards for another score. West never could get their offense moving so Davie took over again after the kick off and Earl Shoaf uncorked another pass to Donald Beck which he took in for the score from twenty-five yards out which made the score to read 50-0 at the half. In the second half Coach Jack Ward played his second and third team and they recov ered a West fumble after which Lester Beauchamp ran five yards for the score. The final Rebel score came when Mike Branhan took off on a 65 yard jaunt to make the 63 points. West Rowan was able to reach paydirt only once and this was in the last quarter when Poston picked eff a Da vie pass and ran 67 yards for their lone score. The outstanding thing about the Davie team Friday night was their blocking. Never be fore in any High School game have we seen more accurate blocking. It was a thing of beauty to watch. The coaches are to be congratulated for their basic fundamentals which were very evident in this game. Davie has a tre mendous defense and has held their opponents to three scores this year and only one has been on the ground. The of fense with Earl Shoaf direct ing and the fastest set of backs ever gathered at Davie High has been tremendous. With this combination Davie High made this a homecoming that will be rememberd for a long time to come. They travel to Troutman Friday night when they will meet a team which is also undefeated in conference play. This will be an import ant game for the Rebels. M. Sgt.
