M&MAN CHARLES YORK Selected For Training at AFB In Colorado SAN ANTONIO, Tex. Airman Charles B. York, son of Mr. and Mrs. James R. York of Route 2, Mocksviile, North Carolina, has been se lected for technical training at Lowry AFB, Colo., as a U. S. Air Force munitions specialist. The aiman recently com pleted basic training at Lack land AFB Tex. His new school is part of the Air Training Command which provides hundreds of specialized cours es to provide technically trained personnel for the na tion's aerospace force. Airman York was from Da vie County High School in '66. GOP Women Meet On Monday night eighteen members of the Republican Women of Davie County met at the headquarters in Mocks viile. Mrs. George Schladen sky, President, was in charge of the business meeting. On November 5, a Davie County Rally will be held, and re freshments will be served at the headquarters. She was selected out of 17 sponsors to reign as queen. Her court included Vicki Hendricks, Darlene Dull, Tan ya Hartman and Diane Smith. Miss Wilson is a sen ior and a cheerleader. Registration Opens Books opened for registra tion of voters in Davie County last Saturday. Registrars will be in the polling places of the various precincts all day Saturday October 22 and October 29th. A person may also register at the registrar's homes dur ing the period from October 17-2 a Saturday, October 29th, will be challenge day. Youth To Meet On Sunday, October 23, at 5 P. Began employment on Decem ber, '47 and retired August 8. '66. A. T. Lewis retired as Main tenance Supt. on October 1, 1966 and began employment May 27, *35. Roscoe Jones retired from Spooler Room on October 6, 1966, began employment March 3, 1929. Fred Bunch, Jr. Elected To Board At a meeting of the Board' of Trustees at Mitchell Col lege, Statesville, on Tuesday evening, Fred B. Bunch, Jr. was elected Chairman of the Board, Mrs. Montgomery Steele, Vice-Chairman; Mrs. A. B. Raymer, Secretary. Mitchell College now has an enrollment of 629, with most of the students coming from Davie, Iredell and surround ing counties. It was voted at the meeting that the new li brary be completed by Jan- I uary 15, 1967 at a cost of I $500,000. This will be one of the finest libraries of lany school the size of Mitchell in the South. Mr. Bunch is an outstand ing business man and civic leader of Statesville and is a candidate from Iredell and Davie Counties for the North Carolina House of Represen tatives. C. E.
