Approximately 300 people were reported around the old hotel building and along the river below it last Thursday night, creating a traffic prob lem on Cross and Main Streets However, nothing unusual was reported seen in the skies. Bad Broadway Home Bestroyed By Fire Fire completely destroyed .he Bud Broadway home cn :he Junction Road Tuesday af ternoon about 3 o'clock. The Cooleemee Fire Depart ment answered the alarm bu no effort was made to fight the blaze as the block hnus° was • blazing inferno when they arrived. A strong win., caused the blaze to spread to a nearby barn and the firemen were able to save it in spite of electrical wire? bein? down in that area. Mtr. Broadway reported the file began after he started cooking some food and then decided to take a nap. Wher he awoke the kitchen wa ablaze and after making an effort to put it out he called the fire department. All contents of the home were destroyed. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stew art went to Ball Ground, Ga. on Friday due to the death of her mother, Mrs. L. B. Wehunt, age 78, who died af t*r a long illness. The funeral was held on Sunday at 3 p-m. Erection of ma chinery has already begun in the new plant. The twin plants are the longest textile plant in the world. Mr Gales assumed his du ties on February 13. GORDON, GA (AH TNT)—Private Donald E. Ja cobs, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry K. Jacobs, 3 Grove St., Cooleemee, N. C., completed a radio teletype operation course at the Army Southeast ern Signal School, Fort Gor don, Ga., February 10. He received instruction in the operation of radio trans mitting and receiving sets by voice and Morse code.
