day to visit relatives in Win

and children, Debbie, Faye
and Johnny of Clyde, N. C.
spent the week-end with her

Ijames Fathers Day dinner
at Pine Ridge.

daughter, Melanie Jayne, will
arrive here from Decatur, Ga.
on Thursday night to spend
some time with her mother,

Mrs. Judy Pence Allen and
baby and Mrs. Robert Hellard
were involved in a car ac
cident Wednesday night near
Statesville. Mrs. Allen and
baby were released from the
hospital, but Mrs. Hellard is
still at Davie Hospital for
X-ray and treatment.
Earl Stewart was carried
to Rowan Hospital early on
Thursday morning after sud
denly becoming ill. He is un
dergoing treatment and obser
vation.
Mrs. Margaret Brinegar
went to Raleigh Tuesday to
bring home her daughter. Miss
Susan Brinegar, who had been
there for a week.

ers and family, who live at
North Cooleemee, will move
late in July near Sheffield,

Miss Marilyn Carol Harris
and Richard Eugene Pierce
were married Saturday June
17, at 2:00 P. M. in Bear
Creek Baptist Church. The
Rev. Paul Moore officiated at
the double ring ceremony.
Mrs. Pierce is the daughter
of Mr, and Mrt. D. A. Harris
of Mocksville, Route 2 and is
a graduate of Davie County
High School.
Mr. Pierce is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Theodore Pierce of
Watt Street, Cooleemee. He

After a trip to the moun
tains, the couple will live in
Elizabethtown, North Carolina.
SPENDING AND THE WAR
The Administration has ask
ed Congress for a permanent
debt ceiling of $365,000,000,000,
to carry the Government
through June 30, 1969. The
present temporary ceiling of
$336,000,000,000 will drop to
$285,000,000,000, the current
permanent level July unless
Congress acts.
