Sun day at Oak Grove Methodist Church. The Rev. Ralph Eanes and the Rev. Robert L. Oak ley officiated. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. James E. Cassidy. She wore a gown of peau de soie and Chantilly lace with a chapel train. , I Mrs. William Shore of Char ! 'otte and Miss Favo Boger j were honor attendants. Brides maids were Miss Eilen Noill , .if Raleigh. Mrs. Keith Dillon Salisbury, Miss Jane Man do and Mrs. Ross Wands. Mr. Peele was his son's best man. Ushers were Bryan An- j derscn of Hickory. Daniel Peele of Fayetteville, the bridegroom's brother. Ed Byrd of Spruce Pines, Steve Bowman of Asheville and H.D. Club The Cooleemee Home Dem onstration Club held their reg ular monthly meeting on Fri day night at the home of Mrs. Roger Gabbert. Seven members and two visitors, Miss Regina Alexander and Miss Jennifer Gaffer. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. James Alexander and a business ses sion was held- M,rs. Mabel Head gave the devotions. The program was presented by Mrs. Bette Smith, who gave the demonstration on the proper exercises. The group was then invited into the dining room where delicious refreshments were enjoyed. Mrs. J. G. Crawford return ed home last week from Fo svth Memorial Hospital in W-nston - Salem. David Sain. After a wedding trip the newly weds will live in Hick ory. CONCORD RACES I V '-' S | ' S b ■ n CARL RICHARD'S RACE CAR The Rookies, the Roughest 1 and The Toughest - If you j were at the Concord Speed- r way Saturday night, you saw 1 some exciting and good rac- 1 I ing from our boys. i The heat race was run and j they finished one behind the , other. Jerry Waller, Shorty j Nichols, Buck Connell and Carl , Reeves. They were all in the same heat race. The boys were all battling it out til the fin ish. Carl found out when he came in the pits, his spark I plug wire was off, as that \ 1 was holding him back. In the main event, Jerry , j was doing extra good this J week. He was our high man j when his oil pressure dropped, j He blew his motor. With the help of our boys. Jerry will have his car in tip top shape j this week and he will be a rough one to handle as are j all our group. When Jerry J came in, Carl was the leader | of our group. With a heavy ■ I foot and swift handling, he was able to finish ahead of Buck. Buck's car was sure swaying in the run. He was giving the boys a hard time. His car seemed to have been running pretty good. Buck, I Carl and Shorty won money j in the main event. Shorty was putting his foot j on the accelerator, but he must have put it on a little too much. He got spun around and then hit in front. He didn't finish the last lap but | i Mr. and Mrs. James Barber and sons of Columbia, South Carolina spent the weekend here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Barber. he still finished in thirteenth position. He may not get to race Saturday night but when he gets his car fixed with the help of Jerry, Buck and Carl, Shorty will be ready to out race his 13th position for some thing closer up.
