As He Left Vietnam Ricky Whitley Saw Several Dayie Boys Spec. 5 Ricky Whitley of the U.S. Army returned hone leal Wednesday after earring a 10 month toor of Vietnam. Ricky had a meet pleasant surprise a couple el days before leaving for the states. He waa stationed in Dae Pho, but had to travel to Chu Lai, which is about 70 miles, for clearing. Bftich to his surprise he saw what seemed to be about half of his graduating class of Davie High. This proved to be quite a reunion. Ricky was pret tjr excited about seeing so many of his hometown buddies that he couldn't remember all of them, but could remember seeing Wade Dyson,- Harold Caekty, Freddie Ems, Jimmy DAVIE HIGH TO HOLD OPEN HOUSE Open House wfll be held st Davie County High School on Tuesday, October 22, from 7 till 9 p.m. All teachers will be present. A special invitation is issued to all parent* to attend, Kiger, Rocky Johnson, Kant Walser and Johnny Hendricks. He will be home until the middle of November and will report to Fort Campbell, Ken tucky,. His enlistment will be up in May. Ricky is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Whitley of Duke Street and is married to the former Judy Langford, also of Duke Street Mrs. Whitley has resumed her studies at Davie High, where she is a senior, and will remain here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. Clyde Roberts Returns To Vietnam; Honored By Friends Capt. Clyde Robert* was guest of honor at a farewell rniMw oq Sunday, Qttohw IS, at the Cooloemee Recreation Center. Capt. Roberts will leave Thursday, October 17 Cor s se cond tour of Vietnam. He is due to srrive on October 19, for farther assignment. He hopes to be reassigned to Special Forces. He has also served a one-year tour in Korea. Capt. Roberts was born in Keyser, West Virginia, but calls Cookemee home. He is the son of Lt. Col. and lit*. Roy C. Roberts now Rationed in Cleveland, Ohio. He has 10 years service with the U.S. Army and is a 1984 graduate of O.C.S. He spent nine years of his career ss a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division sad Special Forces. Capt. Roberts Is married to the former Joan Pierce of r«nlinmff| aad has two . Randy, 10, and David, S. They are presently living at 519 North Platte Road, Fayetteville, where Mrs. Roberts and the children will wait for his return home next year. YWA Officers The newly organised Y. V. A's of the First Baptist Church held their first meeting on Thursday, October 10 at the church. Of ficers were elected for the com ing year. They are: Gfenna Holt, president; Ann Foster, Study Leader; Fteida Foster, activity lender, and Pat Gregory, Mission Action Lender. The adult Y.WJL Leader is Mrs. Nook Blackwood.
